How many guns do you keep around your bed?

I keep a USP 9mm downloaded to 14 rounds, and a surefire x200a attached.

i keep my mossberg 500 under my bed: full tube (alternating 00 buck and slugs), nothing in the chamber, safety off. it's in an empty compartment in the bed frame, where i have to pull out a drawer to get a hold of it. no children around to worry about.

No kids, but if I had any, this wouldn't be changing any. I'm in the Socal57chevy camp - back in Tennessee, you didn't lock up everything, your kids just knew not to touch the guns. Period. California's stupidity re: children and "childsafe homes" and crap, has even infected most gun owners.

CZ-97B and Para P-14 under the two pillows on my bed.

Sig 229 under the couch I sleep on when my gf's over.

CZ-52 on the desk by the bed, in case I haven't unpacked the other guns from a range night or something like that. Really bad choice for overpenetration, but that's to motivate me to make sure my CZ and Para are functioning normally and in their 'homes' before I go to bed at night.

#1 Scattergun Tech 870, crammed with 6 rounds of Winchester 00 buck Ranger in the tube,6 more on the sidesaddle carrier, 5 slugs in the stock carrier, safety off, action locked on an empty chamber. Under the bed.

#2 a Kimber TLE/Surefire X200, with Wilson 8 rounders loaded with 7 rounds of Federal 230 grain Hydra-shock, empty chamber, safety off. Between the matress and box spring. 1 extra mag, a Surefire C2, and a cyalume chemical lightstick on the nightstand.


At the shop I have an 870P in the closet, an HK USP.45 with 230 ball in the drawer and Pops has a Robar-ized S&W M66 at the front desk.

Beretta 96D between the bed and the night stand with 2 magazines of starfire and one magazine of silvertip hollow points.

As to kids and guns... well I have two boys, ages 6 and 8, who have been taught gun safety since they were old enough to walk. I have taken the "mystery" out of my guns by telling them that if they ever want to hold them, they simply need to ask. They also have had it ingrained in them the deadly results of playing with firearms.

I just keep one gun near me...a GP100 at the moment with .357 hydrashocks, and a speedloader nearby. I will probably add an 870 to the mix at some point, too.

During the day it gets locked in the safe, and back by the bed when i get home for the evening. My biggest fear is coming home and meeting an intruder pointing MY gun at me, so I lock them up for that reason.

I know tons of guys who just casually leave their weapons around the house while they are gone, but man, I hope no one ever breaks in while they are gone!

I will also add that I grew up around probably 30 firearms, all in a unlockable oak cabinet. We KNEW not to touch them until dad got home, and we never did. Perhaps the problem nowadays is that kids seem to think its cool to "bust out their gats" and play gangbanger, all thanks to parents (or typically just a single mom) who could care less about their childrens friends and behavior. I smell another bumper stick idea...

It could be that Gram and his GF are doing things right and waiting on certain things.
In that case a gentleman would offer the lady the bed and sleep on the couch.
