Springfield Armory 1911 OD Operator (Bought it!!!!!)

Man I am so excited right now!!! Tomorrow I will go an start the DROS on a SA 1911 Operator

The wife got home from work today and asked me what I wanted for "Father's Day", I had told her a couple of months ago that I wanted a shotgun since I don't own one yet So I told her that we needed to go today to get the shotgun in order for me to get it time for "Father's Day". We got to DCGM and I started looking at the shotguns. I handled a Remington 500 and it did not feel right. I then handled Benelli M4 and it felt right. However the wife placed a $500 budget on my shotgun so I knew I was not going to be very happy with the R 500. I then saw the SA Operator pointing at me and asked the guy behind the counter if I could see it. He handed it to me and it just felt like the nicest thing that I have held in my hands. I had the opportunity to shoot Stormfeather's SA Operator at the Area 52 shoot and it felt freaking great. But thinking that this one could be mine felt even better. The wife saw the excitement in my eyes and told me that she would give me the 500 bucks and for me to pay the diference

I just got off the phone with Soldier415 (I needed some advice and did not know who else to call) and tomorrow I will be starting the DROS.

Man just wanted to share my excitement...

Thanks to the guys at DCGM for telling my wife that "YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY HANDGUNS!!!!!"

    UPDATE 06JUN08

So I called DCGM and I was asking for the "Cash" price on the gun and I was put on hold for about 4 minutes and the call got disconnected, I then decided to call the different gun shops just to see if I could find a better deal and I FOUND IT!!!!! Now the 10 day wait begins...

I had never been to CA Police Equipment before, but I have to give them a ton of credit. Ron and the other guy really, really helped me big time. I honestly felt like they wanted my business and they went out of their way to show me all the other 1911's that they had. They are good people and their prices are very good too. I got it for about $200 cheaper without even asking for a discount. If you have not been to their store, I would highly recommend it.

Good pickup, but why didn't you handle the greatest of them all, the 870?!

I love my operator. It started life as the base (non- loaded) model but it is slowly getting there.

You know I did handled the 870 but it did not seem right to settle for that one when I could get the Benelli M4 later on down the road.

It just feels like I can't live any longer if I don't have the SA Operator!!

Now I will have another 1911 plus I can now tell her what I want for our Anniversary (BENELLI M4) in 4 months I will use the "But we don't have a shotgun" excuse

that is exactly what i want!! well, i'd change the grips (but that's the great thing about 1911's, you can do whatever you want with them)... i don't need the TRP model, and would just slowly get the gun worked over to my liking.

Is it the MC Operator you got? I got the same gun from California Police Equipement.. cost $1150.. DGM wanted almost 1300 IIRC. Either way great gun. It's very "tight" and the build quality is excellent. I took it out yesterday and it still amazes me how accurate it is.. reliable too! .. I have a Sig and XD and this gun has been more reliable than both of them. ZERO malfunctions so far. I even like the rubber grips.. no plans on changing them

This gun has definitely made me a worshipper at the alter of John Moses Browning

Just saw your post after I edited the OP. I ended up going to CPE and I bought it It looks just like yours

I will be doing all my gun purchases from them from now on... Very happy with the way I was treated.

I called the store to see if they had it in stock and the guy said yes. I then left the office and headed to California Police Equipment. As soon as I got there the guy behind the counter (Ron) said "Can I help you with something?" and I said, "Yes I am looking for a 1911 SA OD Operator" and he told me that they had just sold it!!! I was like WTF So after 45 painful seconds he told me that he was just messing with me and pulled the SA Operator from one of the rear shelves
