Whatever you do, dont bet Fred lunch on the pellet gun shoot he has in the back office. he will win. He sits there 7 days a week practicing. Havent talked to him in 20 years, but yeah, hes a good guy.

I know it's a little off topic, but how's the eureka area hurting for gunsmithing services? I eventually want to get back home (Eureka if you can't tell ) and start up my own shop with full gunsmithing services, and OLL friendly .

I've got a great job doing smithing full time in suckramento, but I can't stand living here, want to get home ASAP.

Grundmans is about it, unless you know a bubba gunsmith that works out of his home. OLL friendly now there is the ticket

I hear you on getting out of the city and back to Eureka. The problems are there are very few good paying jobs. Once the pulp mill shut down and the environmentalist move in to try and stop logging it has a bit of a drag about it. PL lumber looks like the only place that is doing business.
Also it seams to have turned into a place for retirees. It's not like it was 10-20-30 years ago. No one seems to have much money as it is a depressed area. Hard to say if gunsmithing would work up there.
Still like the area it's just hard to make it there. fal_762x51 and Deadred7o7 seem to be doing ok.
Im' going back up the week of July so some of you guys may hear from me on doing some shooting.

PL is in Chapter 11 and is going to be sold to Mendocino Redwood Co.

Oh I know how the job market sucks up there right now. My grandpa is the Opie of Opie's Chevy Buick, and every time I talk to the rest of the family that's working there I'm hearing about how sales are the worst they have ever seen, and that's after 40+ years in the business.

I still remember reading a statistic somewhere that over 50% of the working population in humboldt county work for the government... something about that just seems wrong.

I want to go back home, I miss my swimming holes!!!

I am doing all right still considering all things, but we really do need some decent gunsmithing and OLL friendly people who actually know the law. Literally not a single FFL here will touch a saiga rifle because of fear that they will go to prison for a stupid plastic gun. I just can't handle the hiding our head in the sand mentality anymore. I'm about ready to move to a free state, but eureka is where I'm stuck for now. Pulsar, PM me for a get together. I've pm'd a few people that I noticed were from Eureka, to go under fernbridge and run some rounds through. I've got about 10 guys that I go with regularly (not all at the same time) but usually 2-3 go at a time and we have a ball. Let me know sometime.

                            Hey guys. . BUMP

I updated the FFL listing today with some bad news about grundmans and "paul's guns"(private dealer). . . Both of them are scared, maybe because it is halloween. That is a shame they would side with the gov't. over their fellow californians.

It is bad here, very bad. Anybody new in the gun business would be welcome and the ways things are going you might be surprised. Guns are selling fast now, I just bought a remmy 870 at big 5 today and there were 4 other people looking at guns, one guy picking up two rifles. Never saw anyone there before. I was in *ucksports not too long ago, they were selling a Glock 23 for MORE than msrp. It was on "special" for 639, down from 699!!! I was totally speechless just handed it back and got out of their a.s.a.p.

I talked to the FFL you guys are talking about and he said he is more than willing to get some OLL's for me. i'm going to try to order as many as 6 but probably shooting for 4-5 (no pun intended) and found a good source on sun devil billet lowers for 150. I'm going to try for 2 billets, a mega gator, cmmg, and possibly another stag. I've got a meeting with him on sunday afternoon if all goes well he's going to order some up.
