i dont care what your father says, i have never applied for a ccw. peace officers dont have to. i do carry a qualification card that is signed off by a range master every 3 months at the range in fresno.

my length of time in the dept is irrelevant.
Wow if your qualifying outside the Department every 3 months that IS your CCW! then you DO have a CCW lol just like the rest of us. Also there is slim chance you make $120,000 but your financials are moot. The range behind cosco right? That is where you Qualify for a CCW! You just admitted you do have a CCW. I think you are confused.

That is your I.D. show me where it says you have a permit to carry. Any veteran CDCR officer would know you still must qualify OUTSIDE of the department which in turn would give you your CCW. You must have your badge and a current qualifacation card from OUTSIDE the prison to carry concealed. That is your CCW. Its a different form vs the civilian version. That is your CCW which you are required to have by law.

travis. yes i can carry concealed. but i do not have to apply for it the same way citizens do. im not issued a paper permit stating i have a ccw.

            we're arguing over semantics.

I'm not saying its the same as a civilian. I'm saying you must qualify outside of the prison like a civilian would. Being a CDCR officer makes the process of you getting a CCW painless and quick. Your right it is a very different process from a civilian. Though you still must qualify and be cert like a civilian must. Your right to carry is no greater than mine is. The difference is the process you do to get it.

After hearing stories from people who work/worked in those places I understand and agree that any C/O needs to be packing 24/7. That job couldn't pay me enough, but the OP chose to do that line of work. You also chose to lock up your piece and try and win a giant stuffed animal. The title to your post is very misleading. Interested in reading the final outcome.

That's false. If that is the case why do you qualify every 3 months at the range in fresno? You can't say its for your job since all prisons have qualifying ranges on prison grounds.

travis once i graduate academy im good to carry for 3 months. all my stuff is signed off by the range masters at academy.

i could qualify at the prison when im off duty. but i prefer to go to the range in fresno.

im a gunner in the prison and so i must also qualify every 3 months while on duty with on duty weapons. that takes place at the range on prison grounds.

however there is no process or application to endure once i graduate academy to be able to carry concealed

What I'm saying is you must qualify every 3 months OUTSIDE of the prison to legally carry a weapon off duty. If you do not qualify your certs expire and you cannot carry.

OP not to pile on you, but why do you have to qual every 3 months at a civilan range ? That seems excessive even for CCW or LE.
