Taking gun into bathroom while showering

well I'm not putting too much on. And you worded it as if I already have a sludge problem which I don't for obvious reasons (gun stays out of bathroom)

I doubt any properly oiled gun would make it past multiple wet/dry cycles without developing some kind of sludge.

Lol my Glock 21 has been shot in the rain then oiled, dropped in a river, then dried off and oiled. Zero sludge. Not sure what your talking about. If your that worried about "sludge and moisture" then wrap your gun in a hand towel, problem solved. Unless your in the shower for hours you will be fine.

Reading this makes me thankful for my family (there to "stand guard" while I'm in the shower/pooper), dogs (early warning system), living in a safe area (relatively little crime) and living a simple lifestyle that doesn't attract other people's attention (robber looks at my house and decides to move on).

I think you assume too much.
It's not common at all for people my age to have a family yet, not that I would have them stand guard anyways.
Unfortunately I can't have a dog, nor take care of one right now with my schedule.
I would put money down that I live in a safer area than you. I did my research before getting a place down here.
And I would also put money down that I'm more low key than you.

Not sure why you would be happy about any of it anyways. What prompted you to try and do whatever you were doing?

My Glock 29 goes backpacking with me, gets rained on, snowed on, frozen, warmed up in the tent, heated up in the sun, then rained on again over and over. Never have had any issues.

I have those bags that they used in Vietnam to keep their M16's dry. I wrap up my Colt and just hold it over my head while I'm in the shower. The girlfriend takes care of the scrubbing...

Police: Woman Shot Intruder 9 Times In Self Defensea confrontation with a Duluth woman in her shower was likely stalking her for days and may have other victims, Gwinnett police said.

The 53-year-old woman, who is also a veteran private school counselor, was alone at the time of the Wednesday morning attack. She lives on East Mount Tabor Circle in Duluth.

The woman was getting out of the shower when she was met by a strange man with a kitchen knife, police said. They said there was a struggle in the bathroom, and she fell in the tub. Police later identified the man as Israel Perez Puentes, a Cuban national who lived in Alpharetta.

"The male was armed with a kitchen knife, a struggle ensued between the two of them. She fell in the bathtub injuring herself," Gwinnett police spokesman Edwin Ritter said.

The woman tried to fight the man off with a shower a rod, and he forced her into her bedroom, police said. They said she told her attacker she had money in the room. But she grabbed a .22-caliber handgun and shot the man nine times, police said.

Police said the man ran out of a back door and collapsed in the yard. He later died at the Gwinnett Medical Center. The victim, who was injured in the scuffle, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released her name.

I always bring my handgun everywhere in the apartment with me, especially in the bathroom. Whenever I shower, I don't put it in a ziploc bag because I'm to lazy, I just cover it with clothes I change into....

It's easier for me since I don't have kids wandering around. It's just me and my girl, so I leave the bathroom door open when I shower. Clothes on the ground, gun still on my belt on the floor, shirt covering gun and holster. I was carrying before I took a shower and I really hate having to lock it all up and then put it back on 15 minutes later. So it's really simple to just keep it on the belt and cover it.

If I don't hear them, "Hey man, calm down, just let me put on some underwear." Pew pew pew.

If I hear them, it should only take an extra half second or so to get to it.

But, if you're that worried, an alarm, dog, and motion activated flood lights do wonders.

Edit: and leave the guy alone. We all have our own leaves of comfort and preparedness.

Always carry at home or within arms reach. In shower just let it sit on belt with towel over it. Dogs plus family plus other early warning alarms.

I have several spear guns mounted in my shower and swimming pool and am working on a subcompact spear gun for concealed carry. The local paroles have a work shop on Tuesday nights that should help with making this happen but you need to supply your own lube.
