I agree, but what confuses me is how people have 10k plus rounds for each caliber. If I fire 1000 rounds and have no bad guy guns or ammo to show for it, then I have bigger problems than ammo shortage.

The idea is to have a workable supply, so that you can keep shooting at your normal rate and wait out the price spike and not suffer for lack of practice.

If you're shooting 100 rounds a week (I wish I could get to the range this much, but it's not unrealistic), 10,000 rounds is about 2 years worth. That's a good pad and should get you through tumultuous periods so you aren't forced to pay inflated prices to keep your rate of training up.

                  That's my $0.02 anyway.

One thing about ammo, if the SHTF then ammo may worth more than gold. Afterall, a guy with ammo can take the gold.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

This thread brings back memories. I remember going into Turners (formerly Nat'l Gun sales) in Lawndale and seeing all of the ammo roped off. I didn't need any, was just curious. During the riots, I was able to talk my (x)wife into letting me get a small concealable handgun. I went into Turners on Beach Blvd in Westminster and picked out what I wanted. As I was filling out the paperwork, this young kid, who didn't know anything about guns, came in and said he wanted to get a 9mm. Had no idea what he wanted so the salesman showed him a few. He then says "OK, I'll take that one." The salesman says ok, now fill out this form and you can pick it up in 15 days. The kid says "What do you mean I have wait 15 days?". I almost died laughing and said where have you been.

There are so many uninformed people out there who don't even realize how they are being screwed by the politicians until it hits them in the face.

I don't have 10k +rounds or components in each caliber for SHTF. I have it so I can keep right on going at my normal rate through these ever more frequent panics. I hate WalMart, last thing i want to do is continually scrounge around every WalMart in my area.
                            Heck, 10k each isn't enough.

The kids don't care and they are not listening about the riots in the olden days.
