It might be, but be very cautious with this. The disconnector is what keeps your gun from double tapping or, if it were timed correctly, going full auto. If LEO ever catches you with a double tap and they open up and see that you modified your disconnector, you'll be in a world of hurt.Comment

Understand your concern, In fact, that area will be smoothed out with use on in-spec disco as well, so polish is not really a issue. Just do not remove too much metal and go slow, trial and errorIt might be, but be very cautious with this. Okay, I have read your posts a few times and need a bit of clarification.
Are these the steps you are taking when you test?
1. Pull the trigger to release the hammer
2. Reset hammer while still holding the trigger back
3. Release the trigger
4. Toggle the selector to safe then fire to be able to release the hammer again
If those indeed are the steps you are taking, what happens if you release the trigger before resetting the hammer? I may be way off, but the above steps are the way I am interpreting your postsComment

^^^ This first!!!everything looks right.
manualy push hammer back until it locks.
place your hand infront of it to caught it incase it releases, you dont want it slamming into your bolt stop.
place selector to safe
pull trigger and nothing should happen
place selector in fire
pull trigger (keep trigger back)
hammer should be released and slam into your hand
while trigger is still held back, pull hammer back all the way and see if it locks back, it should lock.
release trigger, you should see the hammer click forward slightly but it will stay locked back.
place on safe, pull trigger again, nothing should happen,
place on fire, pull trigger, hammer should slam forward,
try to place selector to safe, it should not be able to move. when the hammer is forward the selector should be pointed at fire.
Video example of the above function check.

Crob if I release the trigger then pull the hammer back everything functions fine. I still need to take it to the range again to ensure it isnt just me. but the first and second time I had the same problems. Here is what I mean:
1. Pull the hammer down
2. Pull trigger
3. Hammer goes forward
4. While still holding trigger back reset hammer
5. When I release the trigger and try to fire nothing happens
6. I then either push the trigger forward to reset it or switch the rifle to safe then back to fire.
7. Trigger is now reset and fires again
I know how to function check an ar but thanks for the link guys. This is making me so angry.Comment

@ step 5 is the disconnector functioning correctly? You say you know how to function check but don't mention if it passes, which tells me you don't really understand the functions or you'd be able to point out the exact step that it fails. Not beating up on you, I may be misunderstanding something or it's just the difficulty of conveying through forums.Crob if I release the trigger then pull the hammer back everything functions fine. 4. While still holding trigger back reset hammer
5. When I release the trigger >>>For clarity, is the disconnector disengaging at this point or not?<<< and try to fire nothing happens
6. I then either push the trigger forward to reset it or switch the rifle to safe then back to fire.
7. Trigger is now reset and fires again

eta: Here's a gif of the action we're looking at.

w/ gun unloaded, selector on fire, pulling the trigger should drop the hammer, while continuing to pull the trigger back you manually pull the hammer back, the disconnector should grab the hammer, then you release the trigger and the disconnector should let go and the trigger engage the hammer.
Are you saying "the disconnector doesn't let go of the hammer" or "the disconnector let's go of the hammer and the trigger engages the hammer at which point, the trigger will NOT release the hammer"? It can only be one of those two, anything else and the hammer would just be flying forward.Last edited by readysetgo; 05-08-2013, 6:28 PM.Stand up and be counted, or lay down and be mounted... -Mac

No it ok. Im not great at explaining. At step 5 when you pull the hammer back the trigger should reset but it doesnt. The disconnector is engaging (maybe not fully)I then have to push the trigger forward or switch it to safe for the trigger to reset. Im not to savvy as far as technical terminology. I hope I explained it properly.Comment

OK Now that I understand better . It seems to be either the disconnect or the hammer one or the other is out of spec and is not letting go of the other . One other thing real quick , could be the trigger spring not strong enough to push the trigger forward but that could be cus the out of spec parts holding together to tightly.
Is this your only AR ? I had a FCG problem once and started swiching out parts from another AR till I found the problem . Do you know someone that will let you try there FCG parts ?Tolerate
