I never stated the Axis was in the same familly as other Savages

So none of what you just stated makes my original post incorrect nor justifies your failed attempt at one upmanship.

Why not have simply posted that there is another Savage model sans accu-trigger/stock to watch out for?
    Play it cool, hot shot.

Who makes the Stevens 200 action? Is Savage Inc. OK with copyright infringement? The Axis is "a" rifle without an accu-trigger. I can name more.

I think we are going a bit too far with this.

OP, I would also put in my vote for the Howa action. My original Weatherby Vanguard is a great rifle. I have it bedded in a laminated wood stock and added a Timney trigger. It is a strong action that will last.

Cool as a cucumber here....you're the one stressing over trying to manufacture a justification.

I am well aware of who makes the weapons sold under the Stevens name as I have bought two of their shotguns. Not sure what you mean by the "copyright infringement" comment since Savage bought the rights to the Stevens name and can produce anything they like under it. Also the patents on any of the non-Savage designs produced under the Stevens brand have LOOOONG since expired. Or do you perhaps feel that Colt should still be the only producer of the 1911 and Kimber-etc-etc are "infringing"?

The Axis is "a" rifle without an accu-trigger. I can name more.
Perhaps you should have simply done so in the first place for the OPs edification, instead of trying to correct me with inaccurate information. A simple posting of "The Axis isn't the only Savage model lacking the accu-trigger/stock" would have sufficed as it would have provided useful information to the OP and would have avoided our semi-off-topic exchange.

I think we are going a bit too far with this.
Based on your continued irrelevant answers it seems we will go as far as you feel you need to in your failed attempt at justifying your error.

Irrelevant, as in, having no logical connection? I don't believe that was the word you were looking for.

        I surrender, internet warrior...

Although, I don't think you're understanding my point. No worries.

        Let's not thread-jack so much.

Back to the originally scheduled program:

        --------------------------------------------------

OP, did you look at the Ruger American? My affinity, however, is for wood, not sythetic. Now-a-days, you can get a great shooting, synthetic-stocked rifle with little money. What optic are you planning on mounting?

Do you plan on modifying anything after you purchase? If you do, a used Remington 700 is your best bet.

You're right, of course; I just typed a bunch without thinking it all the way through, but getting the specs right was not the purpose of my post anyway. The .204 and .223 share components; and I should have included 22-250 with the .243 and the .308. And of course, the 30-06 would match up with the .270, not the short actions.

The point of my post was not to highlight the exact specs of the Dimension platform anyway, but rather to emphasize the fact that the same bolts and magazines can be used for a variety of different cartridges. One can figure out how they mix and match for themselves by looking at the T/C website, not listening to me.

Incidentally, if custom barrel makers embrace the Dimension concept like they have the T/C Contender/Encore platforms, then a HUGE variety of cartridges would be possible with relatively few bolts and mags. This is one of the reasons I'm considering it.

It is exactly the word I was looking for since NONE of what you have posted in reply to me has had any logical connection to proving your original assertion that the Axis wasn't made by Savage.

            I surrender, internet warrior...
Yet again with the snide comment to cover your mistake.

Although, I don't think you're understanding my point. No worries.
Sorry but I thought your clearly stated, albeit inaccurate, posting that the "Axis wasn't a Savage" was your point. If it wasn't, then yes it's pretty hard to understand something that hasn't been articulated.

            Let's not thread-jack so much.
Would have been no "jack" involved if you hadn't tried to correct me instead of simply posting "whatever-point-it-was" you were trying to get across. So why don't you try running that play again.

Like I said Steve, you misunderstood me. Let it be.

If you would like to continue this, lets make another thread and discuss.

Try typing with a smile. It works like a telephone conversation.

I had not looked at how the barrels switch out.
If there is some sort of barrel extension, it would be easy to make aftermarket barrels if TC will sell the extensions.
Otherwise, you can do a custom rebarrel on almost any switch barrel rifle through stubbing out one of the original barrels.

Bass Pro Shops has a pretty good price for a Tikka T3 Lite with SS barrel for like 670 which is a great price. They do have some plastic parts and expensive magazines but many people like them. Ruger M77 Hawkeye which has a nice safety and Mauser action. Have heard of some accuracy issues but heard good things also. Weatherby Vanguard like Tikka has an moa guarantee. Savages are also nice with their accu triggers and also are doing pretty well out of the box in terms of accuracy but the only turn off for me was with their stocks. Savage stocks just don't feel right to me but other than that I like them. I am in the same boat looking for a 308 rifle and all of these I've bounced around and now I think I've settled on the Tikka once Bass Pro Shop gets a 308 in stock.
