I remember cow creek at Hawes farm long ago. Use to go in the gate and there would be this nice older fellow in a chair. You'd give him a dollar and could trespass over to cow cr for some great fishin.

Now for the guy with the Manton info, I had no idea you could get a 1000yds there. Something like that would be nice after I acquire a new scope for my 901
Say what's the cost these days for range usage @ Hat cr & Manton ?

And for the Oroville guy, is it only trap, ? or other types. I'm currently shotgun poor. would need to barrow one. Sole my 1100

Hat Creek: $50 per family per year.
TSA: $50 per family per year, but currently closed to new members.

Guests are free with a member at both ranges.

Events that are open to the public have a participation fee which is insignificant.

Member/Guest cost for shooting when a match is not going on = ZERO

Wow that's very courteous of you thanks. When I'm able to do such a thing that will be great. The temps on the cost are delightful for a summer shoot day, and I would really appreciate that. Hope you don't mind if the wife comes along, the coast trips are something we really like & she shoots...

Can you tell me what the roads look like out to the range ? I'm curious as we leave the truck home most of the time, because it likes gas way to much, like 12 miles/gal, so we take the Prius 52 mi/gal, but its really low, didn't even make over a pine cone one day, and it wasn't that big...

I just asked my mom and she said that was my great grandpa Mel, but he died in 1984, did you do it before that? She told me it used to be free but someone sued grandpa Mel for public access and after that he had to charge a dollar to let people on to fish.

Infamouslegend : yeh it was before 1984, and he told us about the suing situation, some people don't see how great things are, and blow it for all. sure had a blast there, and he was so nice.

                          Ariska:
I'm trying to think were Grover road is, refresh my memory please.

                          Jeepers :
Junction city range, been by there a couple times, but didn't really think about an actual rifle range, dah. Just stop for a road brake... so I guess it still a secret huh ???

Now nice shot is a little pricey and they never let me use my own ammo, have to buy there's, and not happy when you pick up your brass either.

JC range has rifle pistol and trap but only have used the pistol and rifle range myself ,not sure how the trap range is operated (if its only club events or open to public) even though i was in the rod and gun club for years when i lived up there ... not really a secret just forgotten by most all but the locals and ex local like me

@Dano, I was born in 1992 and was unfortunately unable to meet my Great Grandfather, although his wife Ruth Hawes (I called here Nana Ruth) died when I was about 6 and she made the best damn pumpkin pie I have ever ate even to this day. It's nice to talk to someone that has also enjoyed the same things I was able to as a child. Just thinking of going out there as a child brings back memories, and I'm looking forward to the Hawes family reunion later this year.

If you have any stories of my Great Grand father or of anything you did on the farm I would love to hear them.

You are lucky to have known your Great Grand father, most have not, and many will never get to do this. All I can tell you about your Great Grand pa, is he was a very nice guy, and easy to talk to. I hope your reunion is great this year.

And for the farm, it's the fishing, and your Great Grand Father, I remember the most. These days most of the contact with the farm is with the feed store, and so life is like that sometimes, but memories are forever.
