    Redding ca

Hey guys, I see that the majority are in So Ca, but there are some folks in the far NORTH of Cali that are also looking for great shooting w/calnet gunnners.

I'll tell you the range shooting opportunities are few as far as I can tell up here. But would like to hook up with other calnet people for a range day, maybe public range ?
If anybody has great ideas for this kinda thing, maybe we could hear about it ????

Some of us get together at the Oroville Clay Pits. If you go to the "Shoots and Meets" forum we say when we'll do it. But it's a dang long drive from Redding for three hours of bliss.

Im in Eureka but there's a range on 299 about 25 miles away from here. It'd be a heck of a drive for the Redding crowd but maybe we could see if the range would let us set up a day (it's private). Lone Prarie gun club is the name I think.

I am in Red Bluff. You are right shooting spots are few and far between around here. The Eureka Range is nice, I used to shoot cannons over there. During the summer it is great to get out of the heat. I would be up for a get together if a bunch of people are interested, and ammo becomes available again.

There's a couple ideas. As for Oroville I'll need to borrow a shotgun, as Ive recently just got back into firearms after a hiatus. ( sold everything for a new hobby )( and then sold everything to get back ! ) I,m good to go for rifles & handguns though.

A question, do any of you guys bring your significant other to these things. ???
My wife loves to shoot and go's to the range with me a lot, she's also CCW.

I'm sure she would like a little estrogen in the mix, when around all the testosterone. HA HA...

My wife's a hippy and won't shoot. She doesn't oppose gun ownership, just not her thing. She's got all her teeth and we're not related so that's a plus this far north.

My wife came with me to the Oroville range yesterday. She shoots a little, then works on her knitting.

I'm from Redding and I shoot at Iron Mtn. Road, though I've always wanted to see if I couldn't shoot on the Hawes farm out in Palo Cedro since I'm related.

I'm in Redding and shoot at the Tehama Shooters Association private range in Manton and the Hat Creek Rifle and Pistol Club out of Burney.

My shooting trips are almost always with my wife who shoots every firearm we own.

I also shoot at Iron mt road. That Hawes farm sounds pretty sweet, and would be nice if you could. I did read an article on the Hat creek club, but didn't know about the Manton area thing. What type of range is it ?

I would have to ask My uncle Harry as he owns the old farm house and all the property it's on, and ever since I was little the land was never farmed. Once Mel died everything went down hill as far as farming operations on his piece of land goes and I'm not sure why Uncle Harry doesn't farm his dads land.

I remeber going out there and fishing the mouth of Cow Creek and the Sac River, great times were had down there. Would be a great spot to bring a date. But yeah, it hasn't been farmed in a long time, you could easily set up 800yrd shots, now I just need to get around going out there and asking permission.

Come back up, it's the best place to live in California, unfortunately long distance ranges are few and far between, you'd be lucky to get 150yrds at Iron Mtn. Road. You could shoot upwards of 300yrds if you want to shoot up a hill but I wouldn't.
