Also make sure to ask an employee as my local Wal-Mart has started keeping the ammo locked under the counter instead of in the case.

I've got lucky using this metioned many many times. Just head over to Walmart at 10:30-10:45.

Well when they opened up, as usual there was a mad rush to the ammo, everybody had to be first. And guess what, after all making like an ***, there was NO shipment,
        so empty shelf's,
no ammo and no one felt good, and probably not even about themselves. For the way people act sometimes, about the stupidest stuff. I mean REALLY ! is that how you want to be ? Stop and think about it. Maybe I'm out of touch with the world, but trying to beat everybody out of something seems like your trying to make bad KARMA. These days we all need all the good karma we can get, don't you think ?
It is already beginning, the survival nature of people is showing. What will happen if really no supply coming. What more if it is a SHTF!

I have bought ammo from several Wal-Marts well after that time, so it seems the policy varies from store to store.

I will admit though that it can be a challenge to find someone with the keys for the ammo case late at night.

Work part time for Walmart or Big5 so you can get inside their circle. Once the shipment arrive, hoard (buy them not steal ) all ammo and share them to Calgun members. C'mon, do it for the team!

Here's a good tip, people stop calling Walmart and asking the guy who usually sells Kleenex and pillows if he knows when 55grain .233 will be in stock, or the difference between .22 LR and mag, or what JHP means. I was trying to get rung up in sporting goods the other day and this poor dude is answering call after call from guys on break from their black Ops games to BS about ammo. This makes them sick if us. Just show up and look. And people working at Walmart don't know the ballistics coefficient of steel core 7.62 x 39.

That may be true in your Wal*Mart but not the ones I frequent...

here in San Jose Big 5 gets there ammo on Fridays, people are lined up 1 1/2 to 2 hours before the store opens. if you call the store near you they will tell you when they get there shipment and also when the line starts forming.

                    good luck

Even Wal-Mart has a 3 box limit on ammo.

I befriended the Walmart sporting goods clerks long before the panic. I would go in see if there was anything I wanted, BS for a good while then be on my way.

Now that there is panic, I used to stop by frequently and they would hold stuff for a little while or let me go past my 3 box limit.
Lately I will just stop by at random times, haven't been shooting as much, just been busy with other things.
Stopped by at lunch time today they had slugs, 40 WWB 100 packs, 380, 7.62x39 and a few other things. No 22lr or 223.
It's good to see whatever they are getting in is not being sold out 30 minutes after opening.

Heheh, yeah, reloading sucks. Sometimes my right arm gets a little tired from working that handle, over and over.

I'm good for another year before my components stash runs out, but I hope this bull**** ends sooner than that, so I can start hoarding again at fair prices.

Try getting there when the shipment arrives.

                            Just get one of these.

This happens to be one of my valuable secrets in business and getting favors from women in positions of power (bank managers, real estate agents etc etc). A Starbucks gift card goes a long way. Even as a simple gesture of gratitude, this can remarkably impact your status with others.
