Tips for getting ammo at a store?

For big 5 the early bird gets the worm. As for Wal-Mart you have to check everyday around when their shipment comes in.

WalMart in Valencia restocks ammo at 8:30 every night. Won't help to wait outside in the morning as it will be sold out by then. I've been able to find ammo online rather than waste time standing in a line for a couple of boxes.

Wait for Walmrt to open ? all walmarts I've been to are open 24hrs. A couple weeks ago At Sportsmans warehouse everybody was lined up early before doors opened as they are suppose to get shipments on Wed. Well when they opened up, as usual there was a mad rush to the ammo, everybody had to be first. And guess what, after all making like an ***, there was NO shipment,
so empty shelf's,
no ammo and no one felt good, and probably not even about themselves. For the way people act sometimes, about the stupidest stuff. I mean REALLY ! is that how you want to be ? Stop and think about it. Maybe I'm out of touch with the world, but trying to beat everybody out of something seems like your trying to make bad KARMA. These days we all need all the good karma we can get, don't you think ?

I just swing by various stores periodically and if they have ammo - cool and if not - oh well. I stopped in to a Wally World yesterday on my way to work and over heard a conversation from a manager to a couple employees, apparently they almost had a serious incident between a couple folks over ammo. Sorry, thats just ridiculous.

I've also made friends with one of the lgs and when they get ammo, they email me and will hold a box or two for me to pick it up after work.

Another trick is to get with others. My brother in-law shoots 44mag and I shoot 9mm. So when he goes to find 44, if they have 9mm he'll pick some up for me - and I'll do the same.

Not all walmarts are open 24 hours, probably half the walmarts in my area aren't open 24 hours.

Yeh making friends with store employees is a good way to go. And just stopping by when your in the area is probably better than a bunch of special trips. You ether luck out or not...

Try to find a 24hr. Wal*Mart, and become friendly with the staff. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they're completely sick of us by now...

The only logical answer here is to get a job at Walmart so at least you're getting paid while you are waiting for the ammo shipment.

Just do what I did flirt with the girls that work at big 5, and get your foot in the door now All I have to do is call and have them hold ammo if I want.

With my luck with women lately that will just get me a restraining order.

haha thanks for all the advice and laughs guys. I just want to state that i'm not paranoid or a hoarder or anything like that. I just bought my first gun recently, this is a new hobby for me and like I said in one of my other posts so far all i've gotten is 50 rounds in a few weeks. I just want to shoot! haha

I went to my local wal-mart last night (not open 24 hours btw) and the only person in sporting goods was a 60 year old man so I couldn't flirt with him. Maybe i'll try the pizza idea seeing as how I run a pizza place!
