It blows my mind how someone can demonize a tool like it has a mind of its own. He acts like its gonna walk around and shoot children all by itself. This guy, and other like-minded fools, are the reason we have a country that is flushing down the toilet right now.

He should smash his Skeet gun too. I'll bet it is just about as likely as his AR to be used in a crime (not too likely). Pistols are a better choice for the average criminal. This guy would probably **** himself if I told him I use a Benelli semi auto to shoot skeet-same action as an "assault shotgun."

He obviously hasn't ever tried shooting targets off hand with a rifle or competed in a three gun type match, since the AR is well suited for this.

This guy is worse than an anti gun person. I can see how an antigunner can have irrational thoughts about guns since they probably know nothing about them. This guy knows how a gun works and he knows that people could easily be killed with his other guns, but somehow he thinks the AR is more evil. Does the AR kill them more deader?

An AR is cool just like a muscle car is cool. They both have purposes other than to harm innocent people. Both can be abused and would put peoples lives in danger. The outcomes are determined by the person controlling the machine.

My grandfather made a stupid comment the other day, that was similar. We were talking about the 50 cal rifle that the cop killer (donner?) supposedly had. My grandfather said that 50 cal rifles should be illegal and banned, since we don't have any domestic snipers and no one needs a 50 cal. This came from a guy that stocked up on 30 and 40 round mini 14 mags and 25 or 50 round 10/22 mags, when they were about to be banned in 1999.

I asked him how many crimes he heard about where a 50 caliber rifle was used. I also asked him why someone shouldn't be able to practice with a 50 as a civilian, if they had hopes of becoming a military sniper or if they just wanted to get into long range precision shooting. I asked why it should be banned just because he didn't have a use for it. I told him that I thought machine guns should be legal, although I wouldn't buy one and don't have a real desire to shoot one.

I told him that he was just like the old bird hunters who thought their shotguns were ok, but semi auto rifles like the mini 14 were bad. He said "no, that is not what I am saying." He was defending the mini 14 and 10/22, even though he was a bird hunter. I told him I knew he wasn't against semi autos, but that his thinking wasn't any better, regarding the 50 caliber rifle. He didn't say much and I think he realized where he strayed. I politely told him that we should all work to keep our rights regardless if we like or want the gun in question. We are either pro gun or anti gun, a gun is a gun.
