I believe.........until he/she shows me that they have good intentions I would just judge them first as their appearance. If a person was to go to a job interview dressed like a 'duck', walk like a 'duck', act like a 'duck, what's are the odds that person would get that job. I just had a job interviewed with a guy 2weeks ago that had fitted the same discription. right off the batt my staff members shook their heads....

I myself have been profiled as well. If you look at me you wouldn't think that I'm a guy who loves firearms/hunting/outdoors and certainly you wouldn't think that I'm a reloader myself. A few weeks ago I picked up a can of RL-10x and a box of nosler .257cal 100gr ballistic tips from Great outdoors in sacto. when I was in the store browsing at the reloading section, one of the employees there kept asking if I need help. I said I was fine. After I checked out, the fella over the counter told me "to be careful" with what I've just bought. appearantly he thought that I was going to use the rl-10x for the .257cal which is a bad idea and I know that. the rl-10x is for the 55grainers for my .223. I just smiled at him and left.

Yeah, it's profiling, and it works! (But my prior post still stands that just generic baggie pants, bling and wannabe mannerisms don't bother me --- there are a lot of wannabees in this world, and I can recognize them as fakes and they don't bother me.)
I've also grew up the same as you did and all these experiences does give you a better perception to identify the real gangsters from the ones that just dress like em' and hangs out with them. only the people who didn't have that experience with this type of profiling would profile all as gangsters if they just sort of or match the discription. that's why the gang task units have to be taught how to ID gangmembers, but we who grew up in the hood learned it because it was something that we've seen everyday.

However, that dude pointing the gun at people down range is wrong. It violates gun safety and is reason to have him thrown out of the range.

there was 2 other fella's there that I was shooting with until they showed up. 15min. later the other fellas left because of what was going on and before they were leaving one of the fellas whispered to me to be Very Careful. just as they were leaving the thugs pulled out a 12pak and started drinking and one of the thugs started to play with a small revolver and was pointing it at one of his buddies legs and racking the trigger. I then quickly put my stuff away and packed out. I was going to report it to one of the owners there but the thing is that nobody else was at the office except for granny and I didn't want granny to approach those thugs to tell em' to leave since who knows what they may do. it was almost dark so I knew that the thugs would be leaving soon as well so I just let it go.

A buddy use to work at a range. 2 asian fellows came in wanting to buy 9mm ammo that was best for hunting dear . yea right. during this time there were a number of shootings between two rival Hmong gangs. He notified the sheriffs the next day and they took the video tap from the cameras.

lol Ramon. Remember, he might just be on a proxy. I used to use them all the time because of damned restrictions at my High School. But DC? how is the weather there anyway?

Are we being watched by the ATF as well?

I wouldn't be surprised. It's an easy thing to do. They got a big staff, so why not? I have some background in private investigation myself, with an Internet specialization, so I know things can be done easily, especially if you got some manpower. With any of these online boards, a poster can be profiled to some extent just by collecting all his posts in all boards, for example. It would take a little more for more info, but no biggie.

But I wouldn't sweat it. Unless one has bad intentions...

The last person who had a Washington DC IP address was deceptively hotlinking a C&R P38 photo in the firearm for sale forum which obviously didn't belong to them. That was no more than two days ago.

Hmmm that is pretty fishy. You have no idea how many times losers have tried to hack my comp. On one occasion, my mothers credit card number was being used (or tried rather) in Japan! Fortunately for her, they caught the person in Japan, threw the book at them!

Sorry to hear that. There are a lot of shenanigans in the Internet world.

There're too many hackers out there. And everyone knows about spyware. Virtually everyone has spyware on their computer, no matter how good your anti-spyware software is.

There are guys making an extremely profitable venture planting spyware in people's computer --- advertising that they have a solution to rid your computer of all spyware. For a fee, of course! How ironic.

Actually there are several people doing the above. I think many people here may have encountered those pesky little popups advertising the above.

Listen, it's that easy for some techies. If these guys can do it and hackers can do it, the government --- despite all their known incompetence in general --- can do it too!

And from a techy's standpoint, it'd be better to work for the government doing stuff like that because you have the protection of the Patriot Act and the federal government to sanction what you're doing!

Not saying what's right or wrong, just that that's the way it is.

Sounds good for the government to protect us against terrorist! That's for sure.

Also, they can bust people into illegal porn by snooping around computers. The Patriot Act doesn't get into that but if the tool was available to the same agencies, why can't it be done? I'm not into illegal porn, so I don't care. If you're doing something borderline, you better clean out your hard drives!
