Hope it wasn't anyone from here. But in the 2nd room of the show, about 3-4 rows from the back on the right there was a vendor with some ar uppers on a rack. Saw a guy drop one of uppers, hitting the rack, lands on the edge of the table, and falls down the side between the table and rack, hitting the rack and table legs and then onto the ground. It got really quiet in there during that first fall and hit of the rack. Everyone seems to stop and look at the guy. He picked it up and put it back on the rack, like "oops I'm sorry, it's ok though". Well I didn't hear what the verdor told him but I think he pretty much told him he just bought it cause he took it off the rack, grabbed his calculator, and got on his cell phone to make a call. At least he will have a good excuse to his wife why he bought a new upper. Ouch.

THAT'S why I got such a good deal on that upper! Dang. Oh well, I guess I'll be fine with 20MOA. <jk>

I have to admit, I only make it to the Big Show to visit old friends. There just aren't many good deals to be found at gun shows like there were in the old days, everyone seems to want top dollar for just about everything, especially for guns. Accesories aren't too bad, especially some of the new stuff where the vendor is trying to make a name, but even then the prices I saw were still significantly higher than your standard internet deal. Miwall still has the best prices going for ammo, too bad I'm living two years in the past and can't bring my self to pay more than $120 for 500rnds of .308

The vendors there count on a lot of people driving long distance to pay higher than retail.

Did anyone else see the Tussey table with the alloy framed mini 45 1911? When I say mini I'd say it makes a Detonics look full size. It was in 45 GAP, trough type sighting set up and the SIS (throw safety, cock hammer) and weighs 16 oz. Had a grip profile that reminded me of the old 4 barreled COP derringer. It was quite a little gun.

I actually talked to John Indel (works for tussey) quite a bit at the show, the other smith from work I went with was good friends with John when they went to school together. That little thing is actually a prototype kimber, and has a neat kind of decock feature. It's a SA only gun, but you can deckock the hammer by engaging the safety, but when the safety is disengaged it recocks the hammer. John was even saying he's got the jig so he can modify just about any 1911 to do the same thing.

I've been given the choice of the Tussey gun or a Volquartsen Evolution rifle as a little work bonus. I guess the choice comes down to either a custom made handgun from a great maker to an unusual centerfire 223 auto rifle. I'd probably hardly ever use the Tussey but would shoot the heck out of the Volquartsen.
