Heading up Saturday morning for the day... I have only missed this show (of the multiple ones done every year) twice in probably the last 15 years. Wife gambles while I shop.

          LOL

            3. Silver State Guns on Kietzke (they have a big C&R rack)

            5. Cabela's at exit 4 on I-80 right after you cross the state line. Big gun library, sometimes they have interesting stuff.

              Reno Show report:

              1. Hugely busy for a Friday, and MagPul P-Mags are getting swooped up from SOG Armory. They expect 500 more by Sunday morning, but the three big bins I saw full in the morning were almost empty by closing time. Desert colors seemed most popular, then black. The remaining ones were olive drab. There seemed to be a lot of Beta C-Mags out there too. All over the place.

              2. Those hyper powerful 40mw green lasers are finally under $100 with rail mount and pressure switch chingadero. Chinese made, by N1 or whoever. I couldn't tell the difference between the 5mw version and the 40mw, by the way. Both seemed bright as hell, but the more expensive one was smaller.

              3. There's some US-made tactical LED flashlight for $40 that's brighter than a Streamlight. Rail mount and tape switch dealie sold separately. People snapping those up like crazy, and the guy had a giant box of them.

              4. I got a new EOTech 511 for $300. Bought a YHM vertical foregrip and a BigLatch too.

              5. Quality seems better this year. Lots more vendors with better merchandise.

              6. Old school AW collector had a table that blew my mind. Genuine Stoner 63 Semi-auto for $6500 in 'service rifle' configuration. Couple of SIG Pe57s for $2500. Two Johnson Machine Gun M1941 semi-autos for $6000 and $18,000. Cheaper one was a USMC ParaMarine version, the expensive one was a semi-auto unique LMG version side-mag loader using BAR mags. Had an *early* FN-FAL in 8mm Mauser that used BAR mags though no price to be seen. Heck, I Love Lucy was still in prime time when that gun was made. Also an Israeli model. He had an Mk760 rifle, SIG-540, and someone said he just sold a FAMAS with all accessories, gone within an hour of the doors opening. There was also a '1 of 10 made' folding paratrooper .45ACP rifle made in Santa Monica CA in the late '50s that I've only seen in a grainy picture in a collector's magazine. I thought I had a rare AW collection, but I had to bow down to this guy. He had a NIB unfired 1941 Colt 1911-A1 for $10k. Lots of other pistols, and the guy mentioned that he might have a C3 collector coming to take everything he had. I believed it. You shoulda seen this table.

              7. Night vision coming down again in price. PVS-14s from ITT/Litton for just over $2.4k. Thermal sights coming out soon, they said, which is driving prices down more. Color NV in the pipeline for next year. That's when I'll buy a Gen3 green NV sight and congratulate myself for being thrifty as the Franklins fly out of my checking account.

              8. Lots of DC vs. Heller talk. More than I cared to hear. Panic buying and selling in some cases.

              9. One-Eyed Jack has lost a lot of weight. His prices haven't though.

              10. Miwall blowing out the ammo. I saw a conga line of people wheeling cases of ammo to the parking lot as I came in. Moreso than usual.

              11. Prices are still high on ammo, but at least there's a lot of it. Argentinian 7.62x51 200 round battlepacks for $120. Argentinian 62gr 5.56 in rubber packs, $200 for 500 rounds. Lots of Wolf 7.62 Russian and .223.

That was only a quick glance. I didn't stay long. More info tomorrow.

Went through both rooms this morning taking notes, talked to Ivan and his brother (he said he was going to the Giants game tonite ). Ate lunch outside
Went back in a bought what I had decided from my notes and went to leave. Remembered I forgot something, so I went back in a third time. Drove home in time for dinner. Snowing at Donner with rain across the Central Valley.

And I never even saw a CHP, going either way.

The show was good. I saw someone I met several years ago at Denver's show. The Big Show is still sparse in reloading supplies, except primers. No .223 FMJ bullets. One guy, the .50-cal guy was selling .50cal brass and bullets like he does at every show.
DPMS was there selling complete uppers but the prices were a bit high for me.
I stayed only 3 hours since I bypassed all the cowboy and collector stuff.
There was one vendor with some safes at the back of one of the rooms.

                      Did anyone see Iggy there?

I did not pay attention to the forecast and stayed all day, then visited Cabella's. Left Boomtown at 9pm on Friday night and got hit with snow over the summit, which was a bit of a challenge in my old Porsche. Didn't realize I should've driven the 4Runner, but I was trying to save on gas.

Reno is always a good show. I've pulled together my first build with goods from this show and should have the lower on Tuesday to assemble.

Midwall had good prices on WSR primers, too bad the shelves were empty

Got a good deal on some magazines, both 10 rounders and kits for the ak and ar.

Chatted up a guy selling some ak stuff and may now have a line now on some Romie kits for a decent price. Gotta make a phone call Monday to really see. Only full Romie kit I saw was $170 and there were NO extra parts around, at least the ones I need.

No .303 or .30 carbine ammo for decent prices (but my idea of decent prices are from 2004). Two whole cans of 5.45x39 in the whole place for way too much. Was going to pick up a case or two of 7.62x39 till I realized Midwall was charging sales tax. Just a few $, but it made it less appealing.

Overall I had fun and got about what I expected out of the trip.

A friend and I decided to make a spur of the moment decision sat night to go. So we headed out at 6am sunday Hwy 99 to 80 route. Got there a little after 10. Enjoyed the show for about 4 hours, then came home. Took 395 to 88 to 49 home. Hit a little bit of snow on the way home on 88 but it was so dry it just blew off the road.

Hope it wasn't anyone from here. But in the 2nd room of the show, about 3-4 rows from the back on the right there was a vendor with some ar uppers on a rack. Saw a guy drop one of uppers, hitting the rack, lands on the edge of the table, and falls down the side between the table and rack, hitting the rack and table legs and then onto the ground. It got really quiet in there during that first fall and hit of the rack. Everyone seems to stop and look at the guy. He picked it up and put it back on the rack, like "oops I'm sorry, it's ok though". Well I didn't hear what the verdor told him but I think he pretty much told him he just bought it cause he took it off the rack, grabbed his calculator, and got on his cell phone to make a call. At least he will have a good excuse to his wife why he bought a new upper. Ouch.

Had a good nights stay at the Alladin hotel. got to the show when they opened and went through it by 1 PM saw Lon Moer, Storm feather, among 6 calgunners there. Mostly just bought accessories and some reloading stuff. Good show oveall, I would have bought an AK parts kit but the guy was rude to my son. I was also pretty pissed at security when they came up to me twice saying my son was wandering the show unsupervised. He was never more than 10 feet from me or my brother. The last guy got an earful from me and I asked him to quit harrassing us. They left me alone after that but if this is their new policy then I may have to boycott the show from now on. My kid knows more about guns than most adults, he is always respectful, they must have told their security to say something to all adults with children. There is really no other explanation.
