I just bought several items from MidwayUSA that cost $58. The shipping cost was $27 . I could see that much for shipping if I were buying 1000 rounds of ammo but I bought a range bag, silicon rag and a butt stock shell carrier. I buy a lot of stuff online, especially motorcycle related, and have never paid that amount for shipping for items like that. They won't be my first choice in the future.

Yes, they suck when it comes to shipping. Makes it hard to buy from them at all. Like you, I usually only purchase some minimal things that don't weigh too much. To see their rediculous shipping charges just makes me look somewhere else. That is why I have never bought anything from them.

I've ordered from them twice and both times the price of the item + freight came out to what it would've cost elsewhere. The sale price of the item was offset by outrageous freight costs.

As a rule, I won't buy from them either.

I just bought 3,500 .45acp brass from a guy in SD (gunbroker.com) and freight was $15.50. Check out flat rate shipping USPS. If it fits in the box, the rate is the same whether it's lead or Styrofoam.

Ever hear of USPS Flat Rate Shipping? I sent 68# of range lead from Calif. to West Virgina in a medium box for less than $11, filled a small flat rate box with just over 300 45 ACP and that was $5.35.

To the OP, Midway's S&H is ludicrous, I too bought a range bag and the cost of S&H was half the price of the bag... What are you going to do?

They also have a service charge if you purchase under a certain amount. You also have to be very careful what you buy from them. I have a dealer account, and sometimes its cheaper to buy as an individual / non-dealer. Dealer accounts can't utilize any coupon codes either.

It is what it is - sometimes they have inventory and parts that others don't. What can you do when you really want/need something and eveverone else is out?

Well, that's where I was with this purchase. I drove all over CCC trying to find a range bag like the one at Midway with no luck.

I just got my order of some reloading components and corn media and shipping was expensive. I have bought a lot from them in the past and I don't remember their shipping being rediculous a few years ago. It is a shame. What are some better places to buy from that are similar but better shipping?

I tend to buy smaller but expensive pieces like Wilson's 1911 stuff so it works out for me.

I've had a couple poor experiences with Midway shipping recently. They have been using a service called UPS sure post. Where UPS bring the package from Midway to your local post office and the post office does the final delivery.

I had 2 packages shipped by this method get tagged as "delivered" by the post office when nothing had shown up.

Took another week and a number of angry phone calls for my items to show up.

I buy bullets from Evergladesammo.com. Free shipping on jacketed bullets in 1,000 or better quantities. Good prices too. I've also bought from wideners.com and up until Hurricane Sandy hit, from targetsportsusa.com. Sandy hit their operation hard and slowed their shipping WAY down. Haven't tried them recently.

I have an Amazon Prime account, which includes free freight on more than 50% of the stuff they sell. Cost for a Prime account is $75 a year, but I order $1k - $2k worth of household goods from them a year, so it's worth it to me. I also bought a lot of reloading tools from Amazon.

Not everything falls under the "Prime" shipping rate, but even then ... I've found Amazon's rates very reasonable by comparison. They don't sell any powder, bullets, primer, etc ... just tools and accessories.

For reloading supplies, check out gunbroker.com. I bought 3,500 .45acp brass for $200 recently and over 2,000 .40s&w for $80. I missed out on a auction recently for some bullets in those calibers.

I buy powder and primers locally or at gun shows to avoid the almost $30 in Hazmat/freight charges. Cost is going way up on stuff and I'm pretty well stocked these days, so I'm going to wait until components start to come back down before I buy much else.

Midway used to get my business all the time. However, a few days after Newtown, before the panic set it, I ordered 700 rounds of 7.62 which was listed as in stock. 5 days later I get an email stating that they oversold me 200 rounds. I'm thinking that's fine, I'll still have 500 to plink with. Another few days later, they tell me that they oversold 500 and now they have no ammo to give me.

Fast forward 2 weeks past the order date and the rest of my order still hasn't shipped. It has since been over a month now and I have sent numerous emails and actually attempted to wait on the phone for 20 minutes with their customer service and I still haven't received my $200 refund.

I think I'll be ordering elsewhere from now on.
