I ordered things weeks ago that have yet to be shipped. I'm not too worried about it. It is a bit frustrating that I was charged instantly, but that would be a major pain for them to have to deal with picking products and THEN charging for the order.

If they were to plan ahead it would mean running up their stock to unreasonable levels hoping to clear it all having no crystal ball. In other words poor business planning/risk.
Only #1. I don't understand all these people who didn't buy something before the panic, who now ***** about prices and availability, expecting things to work the way they did before. This is all poor planning on their part, and a failure to accept the situation they are in.

Okay so it seems most of u are willing to wait it out. I can do the same, but I would also like to add to my original question.

        1. How long is too long? - keeping in mind that the gun was supposedly in stock.

        2. While I wait this out and IF a better deal comes along, would u order and try to cancel original order?

Getting mad at swamped vendors because you waited until the word "ban" was mentioned openly by the current regime is not the vendors fault. Barring extenuating circumstances I personally see no need for a vendor to send every buyer an email stating what should be obvious to anybody right now pertaining to OBVIOUS back order and extended shipping times. This is why you buy BEFORE anything bad happens. Granted nobody could predict the CT tragedy but an attempt on EBR's was inevitable eventually during this administration.
Not everyone waited till the word "ban" came up.

          Edit:
I've been waiting around 6 months. Limited budget. When I heard all this "ban" talk coming in I started scrambling because it's already taken me half a year to get the money for what I'm looking for, and now it'll take even LONGER because some people got their panties in a twist.

You're buying in the middle of a panic. For example, Brownell's reported that they received 3.5 years worth of magazine orders in a 3 day period recently.

Under normal circumstances I'd give it 1-2 weeks until pestering them, but right now you either need to stay on the side lines or bend over and wait until you get it.

The entire industry is completely backed up. The good old days of ordering something and getting it in a couple days are over. Just be patient. Or don't. Either way you aren't going to get your products until they ship them. That is a fact.
              THIS.

I mean seriously guys, calm down and wait. It's not just YOU. EVERYONE is waiting right now.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Centerfireguns.com charged my cc and called them last week and said it would ship by friday. Called them yesterday and today and the answering machine says they are closed even though its normal operating hours. I'm just an enthusiast not a hoarder. I know I should wait but its kinda iffy when they say they are closed during normal hours. Anyone on order with centerfireguns?

Yeah I know dealers are ultra busy working on orders, but what does it take for a seller to simply send a canned email - "due to heavy order volume, your order may be delayed. Please be aware we are working as quickly as possible and will ship your order in X days"

I placed my order on 12/26 (CC also charged on this day) I finally emailed them (name not disclosed to protect the innocent) and was told they were couple days behind.

I was good enough to provide funds, they should be good enough to ship what they said they would (in a reasonable time)
dude, just wait it out; the better vendors will actually email u back with an explaination as to what is happening..the others, well too bad..I don't buy from them anyways!

It's simply poor business practices for companies to charge before shipping during a time of uncertain restocking.

There is nothing illegal about it and if you cannot handle spending money on something with an unknown delivery date, buy local.

Ordered a shotgun takedown case from a reputable vendor on 12/23... As up today..status still says "awaiting shipment"... 4 emails later..they apologized and offered refund..or they will ship it out asap. Hopefully this week.

Update- sent 3 emails (various times) asking for status

1st was over 1 week ago, second was 5 days later and 3rd today.

                          no reply

I will say this- Although dealers are swamped with orders during this time of uncertainty, they do risk loosing potential future business (after the frenzy dies down) Especially if they leave buyers hanging for a long time (2 weeks or more)

Even though our firm is very busy we still are trying to communicate emails to customers in 24 hours or less and added extra staff to handle the email volume. If a customer has a existing order in with a firm they should be focused on servicing the Existing customers needs and not new customers or new sales. If you are emailing vendors and it takes 5 days for them to get back to you that is not acceptable even if they are busy.
