Oh damn, I know I'd be pissed off if my firearms and safe was stolen. Hope you find the person or persons who took them and that you recover everything quickly.

STOLEN GUNS

Lots of neighborhoods now have been infiltrated by section 8 renters who spend the whole day and most of the night, hanging out in the front yard. They are watching when you come and when you go. When they see your pattern ,they are on the cell phone to gangster friends and give them the all clear. They further participate as the lookout as the crime is committed. Not all sec. 8 is bad but the ones hanging out doing nothing, watch out.We will do as we will do because I am me and you are you.Comment

Had about the same quantity stolen from my home in citrus heights in 1995- only one to date was found. A cheap sks. All but that one were all high dollar and rare.
I am sorry this happened to you, i am still pissed and my blood boils everytime I think of it. Several guns where my dads and grandpa's. They are gone and their guns are too. Thieves, murderer's and child molesters should be hung in public.Comment

I think your homeowners insurance will only cover about $1000. In order to cover the complete amount, you must purchase riders coverage. They cost about 1% of the amount the policy covers. So $100 per year for $10,000 in coverage, $200 for $20,000, etc. Hope you find you firearms. I feel for you.Comment

Len, I'm so sorry for your loss. My father is a cop up near you, if there's anything he can do to help out please let me know and I won't hesitate to ask him. He owes me one anyway - bet you never got handcuffed to the sink when you were a smart ***.
Seriously though, he's a good guy, if you need anything he'll help you."Remember that guy that gave up? Neither does anyone one else."Comment

If the serial numbers were reported to the police they will be entered in the state system (AFS) and the national system (NCIC) as stolen firearms. If a LEO runs the serial number, it will come back with a stolen record. This includes long guns, which normally will not have a record in AFS unless a VolReg form was submitted. Handguns will usually have a DROS record, and sometimes if the persons story doesn't match, they can trace it back to the real owner.
As a retired LEO, I can't stress how important having the serial numbers in a secure location can be. Don't just keep a list in your safe. I put mine onto a word document, then emailed it to myself, and stored it in my email archive on my computer. Even if someone steals my paper copy and my computer, I can access the list anywhere I can get email access. It is backed up on both my Verizon mail account, and my iCloud mail account.
Each rifle lists the serial number, model number, brief description, date obtained, and current value. It is easy to do, and I update it every time I obtain a new gun. I have an extensive collection, but once you get it done, it is easy to maintain.
Example:
(1) rifle, StagArms, model ST-15, semi-automatic, caliber 5.56mm, black in color, 16" barrel, Midwest Industries fold down rear sight, serial number 123456
This is a basic format that law enforcement will need to enter the firearm into AFS, and AFS will automatically link to NCIC.
Without a serial number, the chances of getting firearms back is minimal.
Hope the OP gets his stuff back.LASD Retired
