I don't know why it took till the end of page 2 for this to be brought up

That lady didn't have a clue...nice "dear in the headlights" look on her face while the people behind the counter had to move her to safety

Was there a need to refer to the woman with the baby as such?

No, I guess not. Sorry about that, but the woman was still "not too bright" for being in condition white. If you see a robber, wouldn't you want to get your kid out of the way and get down?

I think given the benefit of the doubt the mother did well, too. The good guy knows he has a few safe feet away from the baby so he was able to take his shot and the mother, as soon as she saw the good guy has drawn his weapon, she instinctively pulled her baby farther away. But I think she should've turned around to shield her baby some more, guess not a lot of time.

Another round in the BG's head would've save the state some resources and someone's life in the future. The BG has decided his fate the moment he walked inside that room, not the clerk.

After serving it's time and if it's lucky to survive prison, the BG will most likely go out again and will not make the same mistake and hurt or kill someone.

            Well put, and very salient.
Since the alternative will be either myself or an innocent person being maimed/murdered, I hope so, I really hope so. Hell I hope I end up at slide lock.

Another good point this (good IMO) shoot brings up, you own each and every bullet that comes out of your gun, untill it comes to rest.

I understood the frustration you were expressing, just did not agree with the description you used.

Anyhow, reaction times vary from individual to individual. I have been in a fast-food restaruant while it was being robbed and the reactions within the first 1-10 seconds were all varied. The same goes for incidents that I have been involved in with others that pertained to self-defense. Some people live in such a happy world that they do not instantly connect the dots when someone walks in armed with a gun and wearing a ski mask or approaches them with a knife or beer bottle. Others react instantly. Then you have the ones who see everything that is going on but find themselves not "quite sure" of the circumstances.

I have seen this in person and having experienced it, it is paramount that you convince yourself that you will react a certain way and actually find yourself following thru with that thought when it does happen. Otherwise if you second guess your actions for even 1/10th of a second, you may end up a "hero" instead of as the reporting party. I rather be the RP 24/7 than the hero. If you do not know what that means, ask.

Stoooopid people shouldn't breed...and it looks like that clueless clod of a moose mom has been busier making welfare recipients than gettin' educated..........

NRA-Dude, good shoot. What else to say? He had a decsion to make and made it. Good guys +1 Bad Guys 0. As some have noted, if you dont have the wherewithall to accept you may just have to shoot and kill someone to protect you & yours then stop kidding yourselves....sell your guns, take up libtard reading, eat some granola, hug a few trees, and walk around with your ACLU and Communists of America card in your back pocket and stop trying to fool everyone. Look, NO decent person wants to take a life...and this NRA dude reacted appropriatly when confronted with evil, with a no good SOB who WAS willing to take what did not belong to him AND put others in harms way. NRA Dude did not put anyone there...he reponded to it and met the challenge straight on.....and look who turned tail and ran? IT wasnt the NRA fella'...........

The shooter is active on other gun boards and I have read all his accounts and the newpaper write-ups he linked. I don't remember the boards, but the bottom line is the BG survived, was tried, convicted and sentenced to prison. The shooter was not charged, his weapon (a Glock) was returned to him and he said the cops and DA were very supportive. He even had the balls to wear a Glock tee-shirt to the BG's trial. The mom with child was so thankful that she has asked him to teach her to shoot.

He also said the camera angle is misleading, that the mother/child was not near his line of fire and that he only fired when the BG pointed his gun at him (that's when the shooter ducked in the video)

It's easy for us to critique his actions now, but the system ruled it a clean shoot and it turned out well. It could have very well ended up like Dennys....then how would we critque a CCW holder and NRA instructor standing by and doing nothing?

I read the entire thread, he fired 3 rounds, hit the BG with 3 rounds, .40 cal glock. The BG fell at the entrance, the video shows him going up to the BG and kicking his gun out of his hand. If you watch the unedited version of the video, he again approaches the BG to answer questions by the 911 operator on where he was shot. The BG got 7 years for armed robbery.... I personally would have rather seen him carried by 6.

Wow, intense. Looked like a good shoot to me. I think the guy wouldn't have fired if they mom and kid were in the way. You never know as you can't control these situations. Glad everything came out okay though the bad guy living is one we could do without.

Would've been overkill if NRA guy walked up to the BG and pump one last bullet in its skull, ala terminator.

You can't second guess if you weren't there.

I've been in several situations when a gun has come out. 1st one was in front of a liquor store. Speed freak pulled a .44 mag. on a couple of stoners playing hacky in front of the store. The second he swung that muzzle away from my direction, I became Carl Lewis. I was under a caddie eight spaces away before the guy noticed I was gone. Just gimmie three steps The store owner called the police. Cops caught the perp two blocks away and cuffed him. He had major amounts of meth in the van. I was 18 at the time.

The 2nd was at a friend's Halloween party. 200 people in the back yard, and some lowlife pulls a .38 snub nose. He unloads 2 rounds point blank into another guy. The victim was close enough to me to reach out and touch him. A mass stampede ensued. My friend and I bolt, someone made the mistake of stopping to look around. I left a footprint on his back. The perp took a shot at another friend of mine who was dressed as a nun. Fortunately, he was drunk and tripped on his hemline at the moment of truth, the bullet went right over his head. The perp escaped and I don't think they caught him. The shot victim is a paraplegic. Both men had gang affiliations. I was in my 20's at the time.

I didn't have a gun either time. I wouldn't have packed at a party in any case because I was drinking. One of the stoners crapped his pants, literally. One guy at the party froze in place, and pissed himself. The police had to treat him for shock. Most people ran like hell. A few dumbasses actually scooted closer to get a better look. I didn't have a firearm, and sticking around just raised the odds of me getting shot. I bugged out both times.

The thing is you don't know what you're going to do until you are faced with the situation. When the adrenaline is pumping so hard you feel like your heart is going to burst, your thinking can get weird. Everyone reacts differently. You train for the worst, and hope your training doesn't fail you when you call on it. This guy didn't think about it. There was minimal time to think. He relied on his training and survived. The goal is to survive. You carry for exactly this type of situation. Screw the BG. He got what he asked for. The instructor didn't create the situation, he just dealt with it. It was a clean shoot. Notice that he shot and moved? Nice job getting the drop on him. That lady was already in danger from the moment the perp walked in. No one here knows what the BG intended to do after getting the money. I don't deal in what if's with my life on the line. I don't want to shoot anyone, ever. I don't like violence. That being said, you pull a gun on me I'm going to try to kill you before you do the same to me, it's just that simple.

what's that you say? I don't have a gun? just call me Jesse Owens.
                            .
