    Dumbass...

dunno if this has been seen, but this guy didn't think anything more then probably "I have a gun, I'm gonna be all cool"

he draws his gun on the armed suspect bringing on a shoot out, and he did this with a woman with child in the line of fire and just seems to have nothing in mind but shooting at the robber.. man, should have just let the money go, its not worth the saftey and lives of those others around him in that room.

Got my Utah CCW, Thanks JimAmentler!

I wonder what would've happned if the mother hadn't moved her child when the robber ran towards her.

The shooter actually is a NRA instructor. It is an interesting read, as he posts under his friend's screen name "excist_and_reflect" on ARF.

To be honest, I am not sure what I would have done had I been in there. Also, I am not sure if I would have placed 3 out of 3 on the robber.

NRA instructor???? Hmmm, time for him to get some instruction himself.

        What a fawking MORON!!!!

This guy is the example used by the anti-gun nuts when they say we're too careless for CCWs.

Looks to me like he seen what was about to happen, he had suspicions. He moved over into position and kept an eye on the thief. His hands in front of him like he was drawing.

Also from our view, the camera angle, the Mom and kid look closer than they are. The shooter shifted more to the right and a straight line to the door.

If company policy allows him to carry then this sort of thing is going to happen.

Little soon to call him a dumbass I think. Was he carrying legally? Is it okay with the company?

Don't know how I'd handle it unless I'm there on the scene. I have thoughts but until I'm actually in the position I won't know.

I read his response on ARF and respect that. I don't think I would have drawn though. The big "what if" for me is what if the BG fired back and hit the lady or her kid before going down? The guy was leaving. The situation turned out better but it could have turned out much worse. There was no immediate threat anymore. If I was an NFRA instructor, I would be confident in my ability but can't say that the BG hitting the mother, kid, or coworker couldn't happen. I am glad it turned out okay for everyone (except the BG)!

Whew, thats some quick thinking on his part! This guys anticipated and knew what was happening. His training took control and he made the right decision. Imagine what happens when those in S.F. can't protect themselves from people like this. How long will it take for s.f. cops to come and help. However, this guys would have been screwed if he didn't have one in the chamber, do you have one in the chamber?

Having seen the video and read his posts, it was a good shoot in my book.

I'm all for the right to carry and such, but just cause you are trained and have a gun, and allowed, does not make every situation a right one to use it, I don't care if the woman with child was in another room its all to risky, and the suspect could have turned and aimed behind him shooting wildly and hit anyone, My point is the Guy may be trained and knows his aim, but that Suspect doesnt, another is that woman with child could have reacted different and run into the fire in a fit of panic wanting out, he is lucky so little happened and it turned out a sucess.

.... I'd have just shot him in the back of the chest and head as he exited.. if the suspect turned away that is

I think he knew what he was doing and knew the mother and child were not in danger.

It's really easy to armchair quarterback this situation based off the video, especially since none of us were there and don't know the person(s) involved.

It's easy to see there is some elevation and deflection in the video footage, which should make it apparent that the angle of fire was not what it seems to be.

Whether or not there was any danger to bystanders was evaluated and decided by the shooter in the heat of the moment. If he felt confident enough to take the shot then it's his decision and his potential mistake to live with.

Situations like this (where a firearm may be brought into play) do not take place on an indoor range where the target is clearly delineated with no potential obstacles to our line of fire. It's the shooter's decision to "shoot / not shoot" and it has to be made fast.

Those of us who are carrying CCW should keep this in mind.

It's not too fair for us to start calling him a "dumbass" without thinking about that.

Would he be a dumb *** if the bad guy killed everybody before he took action?
Na that could never happen...Maybe he should have called 911.

No, he would have been a victim. To me it looks like he knew exactly what he was doing.

In my opinion the guy knows what he's doing. I think his training and skills helped him operate under that pressure, he had control of the situation and used that to his advantage, in that dire circumstance split second decision is a matter of life and death, he needed to take out the enemy at once and very quickly with brutal force before the enemy know what hit them.

In that situation, you don't have time to think, having time to think would be a luxury, at that point you're basically just using instinct to act and move, you wouldn't even feel fear before and during that time, you don't have time to feel fear. That's why the old adage: Practice makes perfect is true. Years and years of practice would hone your instinct and becomes second nature.

he did well based on the video.

Did you notice towards the end as the armed clerk moves to the door he's pointing his pistol at the ground..I think the hit the scumbag and the dude collapsed on the ground outside. Anyone concur?
