Preffered location for new FFL?

I'd like to see another OLL friendly FFL on the SF Peninsula. Somewhere around Sunnyvale would be cool... Fortunately we have Irvington Arms in the SF Bay, so we aren't starving for coverage, but it's a little bit of a drive for folks who are not in the East Bay (e.g. someone in South SF or someone in San Mateo), although there are easy access bridges to get you over there. Just my opinion.

There's the question of local business vs. a business that draws. It sounds like you want to be a business that draws.

For NorCal I'm gonna suggest Tracy or Brentwood as a good location, in that order.

It's not on top of anyone, but it's at a point where a lot of people can come by.

The whole Bay Area, with the exception of the South Bay, is within an hr away (except during the evening traffic) and Sacramento isn't too far (~90min). You could cover a good portion of the valley if you did Tracy.

They're up and coming areas (still).

One suggestion I would have is to set up shop within a short distance of a range.

For SoCal it gets tougher. There are a few stocking dealers in OC/IE and several transfer dealers. Southwest LA is spottier. There's Rettings and Gun World - both old school shops with higher prices.

If Metroshot in SFV would expand both their selection and hours I think they're in an ideal situation to become dominant. They're 5 min from Angeles Range, probably the most visited in LA county. They're also on the edge of LA, so no stupid LA laws. I know they're on the selling block or were.

City Arms in Pacifica is all of 5 minutes from SSF or San Mateo, and carries several OLL's in stock.

Its not on the list but I say the coachella valley. That would prettymuch take care of every city from Banning all the way to the arizona/california border. Thats a lot of cities. There is not really any stores that carry a lot of black rifle stuff. I myself would have to drive over 1 hour just to get my stuff.

Sacramento area. Not only am I biased, I think you'd get alot of business on OLLs. Maybe the Placer County area. Roseville/Rocklin.

I'm rooting for Fresno area. I only know of 1 dealer in that area that deals with OLL's. Pretty sad considering that the central valley is pretty much the most gun friendly area of the state!

+1 for the Coachella Valley....besides Condor in Desert Hot Springs there is not much out this way

Here's something different: Ridgecrest, CA. Indian Wells Valley is very gun friendly. While the local dealers are good people, none of them will touch OLL's (unless someone's changed their mind w/in the past month). Bet you'd be well off...probably serve the entire Eastern Sierras and cost of living is significantly less than anywhere on the coast.

I change my theory. TRACY!!!!! I found the perfect building. It's screaming gun shop. It would shut down that miserable thing that's here now, over night. I'm even considering it myself.
