That makes sense. I know they sold kits, and I did see a Roseville PD officer with assembled magazines, so I presumed he had bought there.

If you wanted to get an 06 or 07 FFL the cost is lower. The ATF fee plus the cost of the finger prints. Add in the cost of the business license and you're done.

No he meant what he said... my 1911 came with a 7 shot magazine...my first AR15 came with a 10 shot magazine even before there was such a thing a magazine capacity limits. "regular capacity magazine" is our sides attempt at trickery...just like "assault weapon", except it will never catch on.

Also, keep in mind that with an FFL+Permit, even though you can sell them, manufacture them, import them, etc, they still CANNOT be used in an AR with a bullet button. That would still create an assault rifle.

Why would it be a lot?

Pay the fees to be an FFL.. build a simple, basic, website as your business.. get a business license.

                Again, what is "cheap"?

Basic FFL license.. basic business license.. basic webpage..

And with your new business you would most likely even have a few business tax deductions.. lol

True.. but you're thinking small.. could be used in featureless.. and then let's talk about handguns..

Many posters expressed this idea that basic stuff from a city or federal government is cheap and easy. This idea could not be further from reality.

One of the parts of the FFL is comply with all local and state ordinances and laws, whatever rinky dink stuff cites can throw at you for a FFL based city business license, in their city. Protest all you want that there is no customers to see the crazy signage the city will buck this all the way. They may even require a store front for a full on business license. The time an FFL is a kitchen table deal is coming to a close. Cities are firearm sensitive now days. Your application will go before a city council on zoning and useage. Yeah that should be easy and cheap.
For instance signage, the city could require FFLs to display large safety info signs even though your plan is not to have customers. You would have to have, half a dozen signs visible in the home and have a city employee have 48 hour notice for inspection of your "home office FFL".
Taxes, you will have to provide your SSN and even get a Resale Permit this has fee and tax implications. A city may have business license tax based on your business income. Try telling them you are just buying stuff and not selling and see how fast they pull your home business license. What do you do just make up a number and pay?
Just google your city name and business license before you decide it is cheap and easy to have a business license in most cities. The requirments for a non FFL home business license even if your zoning is good to go are funky. A FFL acceptable business license in most cities will require a store front located in the proper zone. The forms to apply for the Home Business license require you to detail the activities/purpose of the business. Once an FFL is mentioned or even firearm parts you will set off a fire storm at City Hall.
I have seen cities that have such tight requirements I just don't see a person doing it just to get a couple of mags.
There is no Basic License when dealing with a City Code Dept.

LOL. It is not that easy to start a website and get a business license to get a FFL. There is sooooo much more to it.

From the time they drop it in the mail to you, yes.

Not worth it just for your hobby and not even allowed per ATF rules. They want you to be doing business.
