    CA High Capacity Magazine Permit

What do you need to get a permit to sell high capacity magazines in this state?

Is it a FFL, or just a business license / COE along with the high cap permit?

Do you actually need an FFL? I ask because Sacramento Black Rifle sold P-Mags in their old location, before they had a license.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Yes, you need to be a FFL. It's one of the requirements for issuance.

So if you're an FFL you can buy standard cap mags.. and at that point as the business owner you now legally own the mags.

So, can you go to the range and use them? After all they are your property and you legally bought them.

Just curious. I could see someone with an FFL owning a small gun store.. store goes out of business and owner has stacks of "high caps"..

How does it work? (just curious)

I was going to let that comment about the store die.... seems rromeo has something to delete or back that statement up now.

A FFL dealer with a valid large capacity magazine permit can acquire large capacity magazine.

The FFL dealer can legally use them.

If the FFL dealer no longer has a valid large capacity magazine permit, they would be able to keep them & use them as they see fit. The FFL dealer would would no longer be able to sell/transfer them as large capacity magazines.

So in theory.. if you were willing to go through the expense and hassle to get an FFL AND get a business license (and all the other permits) you could legally buy all the higher capacity mags you want.. and use them..

                    Interesting

That is pretty interesting, could anyone throw out a ballpark of what that would cost?

In terms of time AND money, a lot. I don't see it being worth it, but if you have money to throw around...

Not cheap, but I don't think any actual numbers are in this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=384995
