Plinking on the way to Vegas?

Ok, So I am going to be heading towards Vegas from LA next month...
Where is there a good place to go plinking on the way over there, either side of the border. Somewhere that is straight forward to get to. Any help is appreciated....ty

I'm going to FrontSight next month, will do all the "plinking" there. I will also be carrying a concealed handgun for the first time ever thanks to my shiny new Utah CCW permit. Really looking forward to it.

              Barstow BLM.

Or, once you pass Baker, just hang out the window. There's lots of signs along the side of the highway

+1 on going to FS via Baker. Once you're off the interstate heading the back roads to Nevada, you be in nothing but desert until you come to a few small town. Tons of places to shoot along there before you reach Purumph.

BTW, its BLM land right outside of the frontgate at Front Sight. I've camped there a few times. Clean open air is nice. If you're staying in town, be sure to reserve your room early as the non-smoking rooms (If you can call them that) go quick. Personally, I like the Best Western since it has the free breakfast and because this homie is not leaving my gear in the car.

Thanks for the advice. I signed up for the 4-Day Defensive Handgun class on March 14th, now waiting for FS to confirm so I can reserve a room. I'm definitely not leaving anything in the car!

You'll enjoy the 4 day handgun class. I wish you luck on the skills test. DGing the course makes one feel grovy

If you get the chance try camping for a 2 day, I highly recommend it. If at all possible, I camp over a hotel room every chance I get. Never slept better.

This Place is fairly decent. Last time I was out there we hauled a bunch of large trash out.

I believe it's shotgun only South of Barstow.

I used to shoot about 1/2 mile east of the I-15 at the sloan exit. Now you have to drive much farther off the freeway to be legal.
