Frog Lube question

I've only ever used Remoil, is there a particular style of Froglube I should try out? I'm seeing paste and liquid, not quite sure where to go with it.

Both, but you can actually use one or the other. Personally, I use the FL paste for heat-treatments, and the FL liquid as lube. Use it however you'd like.

Yep. It won't like other products cuz it will just push them out. I use lube to clean, lube and wipe in the barrel, paste and wipe everything else, including grips and levers, then final coat of lube along the slide rails and leave it wettish. Check out youtube videos. Smells so good too lol

With FL, there's no need to run a pistol "wet." You only need a drop per pivoting part, and maybe two drops per rail. Doesn't seem like much, but it really goes a long way. On a Mark series or likewise pistol with a bolt, maybe 2-3 drops is enough to coat an entire bolt with your finger. I do tend to run my AR bolt borderline wet.

I use it on a 1911, Mark III, AR-15, etc.

Correct. It will not remove copper or leading, so a solvent will be necessary if you need to clean that.

Frog Lube is the business, but how many of you are actually detail stripping your firearms and actually heating treating the parts?

Count me in for the detail strip twice with heat treating of parts. Works fine on my 1911s, Glock and XD-s.

Pardon my super-noobish-ness but when would a weapon develop copper or lead fouling? Also I don't know about you guys but I want the gun to smell like a gun, not minty Ben Gay, lol...

The smell is just an added benefit, especially for those that work at the kitchen table and have wives that aren't too keen on the odor of chemicals.

I've used a hair dryer to heat my BCG on my AR and Benelli M4 so the FL liquefies on contact then resolidifies when cool.

I still use solvents for my barrel.

The smell and copper fouling

FrogLube contains wintergreen, which is an active ingredient.

FrogLube now has a Solvent which is water based and biodegradable. The Solvent is designed to remove copper and lead deposits, and also clean your weapon.

FrogLube Solvent can be used to clean, then use FrogLube to lubricate.

Once you start using Frog Lube, do not use solvents again. Just keep on using Frog Lube. I will wipe down with a cloth after shooting, most of the build up will come right off. For tough spots, wet a patch with some FL and wipe it down. For the barrel, I just run a clean patch, then a FL patch, then a clean patch again. Have not had to use a brush since I switched over.

Is that your preference or manufacture's recommendation.

I like using solvents or FL depending or both on a firearm depending on many factors.

Is it ok to use a solvent to clean the gun, barrel...and then apply FL as a lubricant?

Don't mix and match

Once you start using FrogLube, you do not want to continue using other manufacturers' solvents and oils. They tend to cancel each other's effectiveness.

You can always go back to other solvents or oils if you discontinue using FrogLube.
