Dude, just ignore that guy. Even bumpfiring 50 rounds out of an AR, with or without a bumpfire stock(do people not realize that guns can be bumpfired without a special stock?) shouldn't cause the gas block to blow out like that. Not to mention, the dust on the spring is obviously brown and looks like dirt(I do realize that some people are a little... sheltered but come on), not black. Even if the dust on the spring was black, why would bumpfiring cause extra powder residue in the buffer tube? compsoftstation is either trolling, or seriously confused.

Frankly, I'd be pissed if my rifle did this and the vendor didn't want to at least assist with contacting the manufacturer. But therein lies part of the problem, who manufactured these components? Someone selling complete uppers for $299 at a gun show is not manufacturing his own gas blocks, handguards, barrels, etc. To be honest, considering current pricing even no-name house brand uppers from reputable resellers are only going for $300 for crazy blowout type sales(like PSA's labor day sale), a $300 upper from a random guy at the gun show with a silly claim(manufacturing himself. Assembling maybe but he gets the components from somewhere) sounds fishy enough that I wouldn't even consider them. The fact that the guy won't even own up to the problem only makes matters worse(ffs, if they're this cheap the guy should have just been able to swap the whole thing for a replacement).

I doubt this guy, as shady as he sounds, with do anything short of having to take him to court over it. I'd let him know that you're publicly pointing out his crap, and chalk it up to a lesson learned about scraping too far down into the bottom of the barrel for a deal.

I saw this awhile back when looking for an upper my gfs budget ar build. So when we went to the show, I show my buddy, impaktechusa this guys stuff and tell him that I've seen it on cal guns and that the dude makes the parts.. So we heard the sales pitch and my buddy got an upper and some other goodies. So I'm partial to blame lol.

One of my kids just bought one of these uppers on Saturday morning.

Tonight I am going to take it down to the last part.

Thanks for posting the heads up.

Yeah, there's a difference between getting crappy parts, and getting crappy parts and crappy customer service though, and that's the fault of this vendor. Call him up and give him one last chance to at the very least fix it(and let him know it's his last), if he says no then let him know you're telling his other potential customers what happened and to steer clear of him.

believe me i gave him his chance.. i walked in his shop sat down... let him finish what he was doing..i hadnt even told him about the broken buffer tube yet.. and i said nicely.. all i want is a refund..and then i showed him the box of stuff i had bought from him with the broken buffer tube.. and he erupted in interrigating me on what uppers i used on what lowers and how my TM 80% built lowers on CNC machines would cause the buffer tube failures .and how CNC machines are not perfect yada yada yada and i dont know what mil spec means ( which i do).. and im doing this .,.doing that... after we both cooled down he would not give me a refund .... and i said well.. instead of walking out the door out 800$... replace what is damaged and he did .. but almost charged me a few dollars for some lower parts that i lost in the buffer tube disaster.. i mean really( thats the kind of guy this is ) ? besides that.. i still have cheap parts i WILL NOT use.. so whats the point of switching out crappy parts with more crappy parts? personally i felt i didnt need to threaten him with what i was gonna post on here..people are telling me i need to post this whether he did it right or not

the only reason he even switched them out was because after our argument he realized i actually know what im doing and i didnt do anything wrong to cause these failures ..but like i said.. replacing crappy parts with crappy parts doesnt solve anything Imo .. if this had been me on the other side of business i would have refunded the customer and still gave him what he wanted ( i personally own a business and thats what i would have done .. and have done when i was wrong) .. i didnt get my 800$ back but guess what.. hes already lost more than that in business i can assure you that .. and thats something he should know if hes running a business

Impak, I was in the shop (buying my fourth complete upper) the day you brought your pistol upper in the first time for R&R. I can honestly say that Rohg handled your issues properly that day. Now, as a fellow shooter and AR builder, i can understand having problems with parts and malfunctions, that stuff happens even with top name companies on occasion ( i do own DD and LWRC products). I can also understand being frustrated with not being able to finish your day shooting. Your arguement that you had with Rohg (as far as Im concerned is non existant) as no one was there to witness it, its all hear say. It sounds like you did get a new upper receiver out of it, and I would go shoot it. I have purchased four of rohgs complete uppers ranging from 18 inch to a 7 inch side cocker, and they have all operated flawless for me. Im just saying maybe you purchased a needle in a hay stack, take your new one out and shoot away, see if you can duplicate the issue. Also, as a builder, its alot easier to diagnose an issue when you receive the product intact. Usually as its being disassebled, a story is also being told to how the rifle is functioning. Im here to debate whos right and whos wrong, but my experience with Rohg uppers has been great. You may have also received a bad apple in the bunch, so go shoot the crap outta the new one, if it fails again, return it intact for the gunsmith to do his job.

This guy is more than happy to help when we have assembly issues also. Sorry to burst your bubbles Impak but looking at your pics. It doesn't look like you shot only 10 to 50 rounds. Sounds like you screwed up and want to blame others. From what I know, other places wouldn't even give you a exchange after you assembled and or dis-assembled anything. Sounds like he took care of you.
