I like the price on that. How reliable you think that is in a HD situation?[/QUOTE]

I've never had an issue and we own 3.

They last a long time for only a single AA battery on regular usage.

    Comes with a lanyard too.

I like that my daily carry light is the same as my HD light (which lives next to my pistol and is not used regularly to keep the battery fresh)

I trust my life to it for a SD situation.

If used for HD, replace the battery every 2 years to make sure it works as AA doesn't hold charge as well as CR123

Personal preference, but I prefer a light that isn't too bright. I used to get the stronger heads for my lights, but training in the dark, I've learned to try to keep my night vision as much as possible.

I REALLY like the red color filter I have on my Surefire 6P. It's still painfully bright when hit by it, but much less spill that affects the user/source.

Being on the receiving end of strobes, they are slightly disorienting, but like a white light, you still know pretty much where the source is and in what area to shoot.

      (I know you're joking)

Back in the 80's, saddles were made to do this, but were quickly supplanted by SureFire's in the forward stock. This was before rails were put on guns. And before the picatinny rail system.

Gerber Omnivore gives plenty of light.

Who thinks alkaline batteries are dependable? Switching lithium operated lights for generic energizer crap is genius. I have a box full of those craptacular energizer fleshlights thats no longer fully functional. The only one thats still kinda functions is a led headlight that was gifted to me. Its fairly new, barely used. It will flicker and turn off unexpectively. It will dim out unexpectively. It is powered by 3 aaa batteries. I only use it to do random stuff around the house and on campsite. It is completely useless and undependable if taken out into complete darkness especially if the weather is wet and freezing.

I have a Glock light on my G19. I find that the lens got all black and sooty after a few hundred rounds. Still works but bummer if you want your light to be all purrteee.

Yes i am joking. The good thing i seen with the stobe feature in that u can leave it on.the ground(face towards the bad guy) , move quickly move to another location or attack/fire at a diffrent spot. Depending om the situation. I dont know lol. Seems like a good move lol.

After cleaning your lens well... (I like the glasses/lens cleaners in the bulk boxes individually wrapped wipes)

Take a clear colored Chapstick or generic lip balm and smear it over the lens and the edges of the lights lens.

After a couple shoots, just wipe off the lip balm and the carbon buildup with it, clean the lens easily, and put some more lip balm on.

                    Easy.

Make sense. But who knows, you may need it in a particular moment and you wish you would have it. The light can still be attached to your pistol but you don't have to turn it on. Give yourself options....

Just remember to identify your intruder positively. Your teenage daughter's boyfriend, your drunk brother-in-law who was using your wife's key stumbling into your house in the dark, etc.

In the dark, you will need a white light or some way to identify your target (hopefully) before sending rounds into it.

I understand giving away your location, but shooting at a target that is not positively identified is a dangerous move is many ways.

For handheld lights, I have a bunch of Surefire G2 Nitrolons, all but one have been/came with LED heads. The last one will be converted as soon as the LED unit and metal bezel arrive. I do have one legacy of my LE career; that would be a Mag Light (with an LED conversion) just in case I need to clobber something as well as light it up.

For pistol mounted lights, I favor the Insight M3/M3X; the M3X, when mounted on a Glock, can be equipped with a contoured switch that makes it easy to have light when you want it. It's a little harder to find good holsters that accommodate it then the TLR, though.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

TLR-1 on my Glock 17C (in my avatar)
TLR-4 on my Glock 29, which is my typical backpacking pistol (installed it recently, but seems solid)
I just installed a 4Sevens Maelstrom G5 that arrived today on one of my AR's, which is pretty darn bright at 350 lumens

I EDC a 4Sevens Mini AA, and I backpack with it as backup to a Mini AA2 in a headband.
