    Flashlights

I couldnt find a thread about this topic. I wanted to know what type/style are you guys are using with your handgun for home defense or in general. Im mostly intrested in the handheld type. I want a good one to to on my night stand with my handgun. What is the best or what you prefer?

Would love picture of your handgun/ light setup.

I am a hard core flashlight guy. I have only one pistol mounted unit- Streamlight LTR3. Shown below is a photo of it on my SP2022, 9mm.

I will come back and post the great video by Nutnfancy on his TLR3 review.

        Handheld:

        Surefire G2 LED

        Stream Light

I like both of these brands because they share a common battery and have a push button momentary on switch or just twist the end cap to leave it on. Most the Streamlight products also have a temporary strobe function as well.

        Weapon mounted:

        Streamlight TLR-1 w/ pressure switch

        Surefire x300 w/ pressure switch

Both of these are probably the most common and popular for weapon mounted light systems.

Lumaforce for the win!!!!!!! they make the best flashlights i have ever bought and they are decently priced. they are also completely modular, so you can buy different bulbs for them, for example they have different colors and brightness.

here is their LF1 mounted with a foregrip that they sell, on my AR15. (video filmed in a free state)

Side thought- What if Mag Instruments aka MagLight made a weapon mounted light? I would like to see it.

they would be awfully heavy, part of the appeal of a maglight is the fact that its essentially a mace with a light at the end of it, even the small ones are heavy for their size

I do not like lights on my handgun that is used for self defense for the one reason it gives away my location. If I am in my house and an intruder is coming in, I do not want them to see where the bullet is coming from, in case their is a second person with them or if my first shot does not put them down.

I like the Energizer Tactical flashlight

runs off AA, bright enough, but not too bright (65 lumens is too bright IMHO), momentary on/off with push button click to leave on

not as truly tactical as a Surefire, but the batteries are cheap enough to use and carry this flashlight daily.

I own over 10 Surefire products, and am slowly switching over to these for handhelds.

For pistol mounted, I like the Streamlight TLR-1. For the price, about $90-95 on sale, it's a great light for the money. Sponsored, I'd run Surefire X-300, but for my money I'd go with the basic TLR-1. I don't want anything but a white light, no lasers or strobes. I have enough to think about between the trigger and the light switch. I DO NOT use the middle finger pressure switches either, EVER.

                        ---

any long gun for HD without a white light to identify the threat with is worth less IMO than a pistol + handheld or mounted light

I like the price on that. How reliable you think that is in a HD situation?

I am wondering if Mag sat down at square 1 and really made a quality light that would rival the TLR? I would love to see it. But for now, I like the Streamlight.
