    San Diego Gun Show

Ok, so is there any real deals to be had the the Crossroads Gun Show? Last time I went there it seemed like a lot of pepper spray and low quality AR accessories. While the good stuff was pretty fully priced. Ammo deals?

Minwall or lax reloads, bulk ammo. You got to buy alot since you still have to pay for parking and entrance fee. If I go I try to make it worth it and buy maybe 5000 rounds of different ammo.

CA gun shows are a complete waste of time unless you are buying reloads and like h0use said you need to buy a lot to cover the $20 you paid for parking and entrance. Most of the vendors are selling garbage accessories I wouldn't put on a .22. The few that are selling good quality items are pricing them well above what you could get them for shipped online. Every so often you will find private sellers unloading stuff they have collected over the years and find a good deal, but it is kind of rare. I've been to 3 different shows in the past year, Crossroads in Del Mar and in Ontario and the Victorville gun show. All were pretty pointless and cost me more between the drive and entrance and parking than if I had just ordered the stuff I bought online.

You might get lucky if you need rebuild kits, there was a vendor at the last show I went to in Ontario that had decent prices on hi-cap rebuild kits.

Last show I went to was costa Mesa. I was extremely disappointed by the crap being sold. I won't attend to another. +1 on having to buy a ton of ammo to make it worth while.

i think you get better deals on the market place here. plus there is a ammo group buy on here that is even better than the gun show and its free shiping right to your door.

I went to Costa Mesa for the first time recently (I'm in S.D. so normally go to Del Mar) and thought Costa Mesa was 10 times better than S.D. There was not a mad dash rush to buy ammo.

I once got an M&P 15-22 from a vendor there who does FFL from his home in Murrietta (haven't seen his booth in near a year now), otherwise, it's ammo mostly.

Since I can shoot WOLF, it makes my trip for .223 worth the price of admission and parking vs. ordering online. I can pay cash and have it that day. Plus I enjoy seeing all the goons who love the same thing I do.

I've found some good deals on LPKs and lights. For firearms, more often not good deals.

The last batch of LAX .223 reloads I bought had a small percentage that were underpowered so it seemed. They were Freedom Munitions reloads using lake city brass. Super dirty. Good price but I've since moved on to strictly WOLF brand new and $100-$140 less per 1000...

                Quit going years ago.

Time & gas to drive there.

Price to park & 1/4 mile walk to front gate.

Price to get in. (standing in long line, being forced to listen to poser spec. ops guy standing behind me, rattle off lie after lie about his oversea deployments and don't forget the crap coupon discount).

Full retail prices on guns. Long guns, handguns, it doesn't matter, they're all over priced.

The cheap ammo prices used to make all the drama worth it but not anymore. Just as good / better deals can be found here or online.

Over priced soda's & chow. No place to sit down and eat. Plus lines in the can that ran out of paper towels the day before.

More & more losers walking in pairs, thinking they're tough guys cause they got some ink showing on their necks.

                Quit going years ago.

Picked up an Enfield from a private seller for a pretty good deal last year, but the last couple of times just went to stock up on ammo and to get a few small knick-knacks such as few mags and paper targets. It is fun though seeing all the people though.

You may find a deal or 2 with ammo but after paying $10 for parking and $12 to get in you might find better deals online.

                      Pretty sad actually

Guns shows used to be good as short as 5 years ago, I loved to attend and would get excited weeks out at the prospect of a gun show coming to town. However in the past few years they have been a complete and utter waste of time and money.

Not sure why this happened. I'm would now be surprised if I even attend another good gun show as long as I shall live. Pretty sad actually.

I think most people just realize they can find better deals online now.

I thought about going for about a minute and a half before I remembered my mental note as I walked out last time... "Don't come back here next time. Instead, spend the time that I would be waiting in line to get in and fighting the crowds to get ammo to find a deal online, order it, have it shipped to me, and drink a beer". I think I'll listen to myself on this one!

This show and other gun show around the state and the rest of the country are dying a slow death. Every show I go to, I see more and more open space, less tables being set up or two guns on a table with a cell phone number to call. Heaven forbid if you bring a gun to sell, everybody wants to low ball you and "coonfinger" your stuff. What Rip-off of the West is doing is charging more for admission since they are getting less revenue from the vendor tables.

Kind of reminds me of some years ago in Mexico....things got touchy and tourism was at an all time low in the Baja....so since they weren't selling as much beer the mentality was just to raise the prices...when less beer got sold they raised it again...that seems to be what the gun shows (and fishing shows) seem to be doing ...... fewer folks attending so raise the prices...drives away more and more folks....raise the prices some more...pretty soon all gone. When the big ammo "shortage" was around a few years ago the ammo dealers gouged and screwed everyone they could grab...now no body needs them at the higher overall costs with parking, admission, etc. It all got me back into reloading after a many year layoff and boy am I glad it did...forgot the fun and savings....I buy mostly on line and "bundle" with other folks to get primers and powder to spread out the hazmat. Last order of powder and primers I shared with 2 guys came out to be way lower than local with the "upcharged pricing", sales tax, etc...even with hazmat and freight...so "no mas" for me on the gun shows.
God and the Constitution give me my rights and actions...any other input is just blabbering.
