I'm really enjoying my V7 when I don't want a bunch of crap hanging off the rifle.

      I would get a PWS MK107 Diablo in 7.62x39.

That's what this upper I built is. PSA 20" upper $299, BCM BCG $140, BCM mod 4 charging handle $44, KAC 200-600 micro BUIS $100, KAC RAS M5 FREE

        Sorry for the crappy pic.

would build my own. side charging handle, and maybe a piston... probably a 5.56 with a longer barrel (~20'') and prbably monolithic free floated.
My AR is 7.62x39, so that if/when we get invaded, I can shoot their ammo back at them!

You can also get a regular CL basic Noveske upper for 8-900. It still should shoot hell a accurate, and runs a heavier profile barrel than the others, and I believe is Mid length. ** The link gives you the complete firearm, but you can click the down lever and you will see the price for just the upper. **

I just thought you wanted something extra nice- (since you are at the 1K) mark.

I personally would just save up an extra 2-3 hundred and be done, But that's just my opinion.

Not mine but check out the Seekins Precision SP3R rail. I almost got it but went with TROY. The seekins rail was designed for 3 gun they say. The flatness on the bottom of the rail is nice for shooting off a barricade

This thread died so quick. I thought more people would enjoy fantasizing.

This BCM upper is nearly ideal:

$1K thats an easy one for me Alexander Arms .50 BeoWulf. I know the rounds a expensive but my complete lower has been on hold for a year now and just need the upper to complete the project.

BUT if I had to pix another upper would also go with a NOVESKE, good luck!

Still shopping. I currently only have one upper, it's a Spikes midlength LE with basic A2 flash hider.

My ADD on this dilemma is getting worse because I have two new stripped lowers in jail right now. I think I'm going to stash those so I can focus on this single upper.

I think I want to stick with midlength gas but now I'm debating a stainless barrel or LW barrel. Perhaps a pinned 14.5 though I don't like the idea of how permanent that is.

Still not ready to get into the long range, SPR scoped arena. Does sound fun to hit 600yd steel though.

Lothar Walter Barrel - DING DING! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

I originally got a 20" Stainless Lothar Walter barrel that I had built into a bench gun.
After a hugely embarrassing and ridiculously funny outing at Taran's place for my first civilian class, which turned out to be a 3 gun thing, Taran Butler grabbed my barrel, cut it to 17", and...that's sitting on a VTAC MUR1a, along with a JP VTac Military Rail (considered a PRI), a JP LMOS, and badger charging handle.

The upper outshoots my Adams Arms, my JP CTR02, my JP15, criterion barreled uppers, etc.

I'd love to "buy" it, but "building" it in my case turned out to be the better 3-gun rifle.
                      On hold....
