C'mon Axel...
As a fellow Movalistanian, you know that the criminal element in our neck of the 'hood, can create **** that would make MacGyver look like an amateur. Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

You can't be that clueless. This is a specific environment that is being secured for a specific reason. Inmates are notoriously crafty.
We had an inmate trying to get his sentence reduced at one of my courthouses on multiple violent felonies including robbery, rape, kidnapping, and attempted murder. His earliest possible parole date was in the year 2249. He was searched thoroughly before entering the courtroom. He was searched again after leaving the courtroom, where we found an actual handcuff key and a homemade one. The real key was smuggled to him by his lawyer and he got the homemade one from his girlfriend who had appeared before the judge on another matter and secreted it under the table. He got another 25 to life sentence for that. They will be using Star Dates before he gets out. The lawyer got 5 years and can never practice law again. It was a second strike for the girlfriend and she got 15 to life.LASD Retired

The new machines, Metor/Rapiscan don't detect as well as the Garrett's. They have a much higher false alarm rate and create needless delays, longer lines and more work for the screeners. One of the things we disagreed on many times. Not horribly shocked at the thought. I can tell you the new machines all seem to be turned to the max. I wonder why?
As long as the Judges Personnel and Budget Committee (Or whatever they call it today.) wants to keep him he'll keep his overpaid job. Frankly the court could save money and increase the security level by replacing him with someone who actually cares about the job.LASD Retired

Actually, I meant that you were serious that the keys and handcuffs are for kinky sex. I believe you do say that to the staff; I'm just not sure they believe that you're stating the truth when you disclose the purpose of the items.

Yes but we are not talking about a normal courthouse We are talking about traffic court...where you drive to a business park and go up to suite 115 to go see the pretty judge riding out his last years until he retires. You can't be that clueless. There is no such thing as a "normal" courthouse. A LOT of people get remanded to custody from traffic court. One of the biggest courtroom brawls I ever encountered was in a "civil" courthouse where they heard Unlawful Detainer (eviction) cases. Small claims is also very volatile.
How many enemies do you think the "Pretty Judge" you describe has made over the years? Judges send hundreds, if not thousands of criminals to prison during their careers. I knew a judge who was murdered, along with his wife, because of a criminal case he had decided years earlier. He was hearing civil cases at the time of his death.
As a former resident of Moreno Valley, I can attest that it is a city with more than its share of criminals. Hard core ones at that. How many other cities have a school board member out on bail for attempted murder and several other crimes?
My Bona Fides:
During my tenure as a sergeant and lieutenant in the LA County Courts, I was responsible for the management of the following court districts: County Courthouse District (Stanley Mosk Courthouse, Hollywood Courthouse, Metropolitan "Traffic" Courthouse, and Central Civil West), the Criminal Courts District (Criminal Courts Building aka Foltz Courthouse, and the Central Arraignment Court), Pomona District (Pomona North, Pomona South, West Covina "Citrus" Court, El Monte "Rio Hondo" Court, Alhambra Court) and Pasadena District (Pasadena Court {old Superior and Municipal}, Glendale Court, Burbank Court, Edelman Children's Court, Department 95 Mental Health Court)
The Metroplitan "Traffic" Court in Los Angeles hears as many felony cases as any other court, possibly more. They conduct both preliminary hearings and felony trials, including murder cases.
Each courthouse had its unique properties, but shared many of the same problems, especially with contraband. I have seen every kind of case you can think of, from jaywalking to multiple murders. I have testified in almost every kind of case you can imagine also from years of working patrol.
I have been involved in the setup and maintanance of metal detectors throught LA County, an instructor on security screening, I set up metal detectors for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics, and the security detail for President George W. Bush with the US Secret Service. I am one of two people on the west coast authorized by Garrett Metal Detectors to work on the internal parts of their units without voiding the warranty. Although retired from LE, I am working as an independent contractor for Garrett Metal Detectors installing equipment at federal courthouses.
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes at your local courthouse that most people are not aware of. The Criminal Courts Building in LA begins its day at 0430 and the inmates start arriving at 0500. The doors to the courtrooms might only be open from 0900-1700, but the building is still going until at least 2100, and sometimes later.Last edited by Ron-Solo; 06-25-2012, 2:52 AM.LASD Retired

I'd throw in a "you should probably wash your hands now" just to really mess them up.
I wonder if that's the same company that installed 'hidden' metal detectors that were buried in stucco and they had a brain fart and used the chicken wire, which set off all the detectors when they turned them on???
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

Sorry, but that has to be an urban legend. The units don't detect metal that way. They ignore stationary metal such as rebar in a floor.
You obviously don't get it, but you are entitled to your opinion, however wrong it may be.

I go with LE was an idiot.
Time a factor? NO ONE was in the court at 3:45 PM...it was more like a morgue.this- It's a fast paced environment with the scanners . And add in they simply do not want any type of CONTRABAND within the court for liability reasons. Not siding with the LA County Court, but I can see that with time a factor, it's better to just hold off on any type of CONTRABAND and be safe then hold court outside debating what is acceptable and what isn't.

NO.
You are banned from OT and LEO because you can't shut your damn pie hole and keep your biased bigotry and juvenile comments concerning LE to yourself.

Sounds silly, but if it the House Rules, then.....Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

While I do agree with glockman on Ron-Solo and some others being the types who see a cop can do no wrong, it still is your fault. Just keep your fingers away from the keyboard when you jimmies are rustled.Last edited by axel4488; 06-25-2012, 2:23 PM.Originally posted by ibanezfooFallout isn't just a game, its for training.

You have your papers, Ya?
In the end, that is what it all comes down to, each person is responsible for their own actions and words. While I do agree with glockman on Ron-Solo and some others being the types who see a cop can do no wrong,
If you're going to make that kind of statement you have to also state the reverse, that glockman19 and several others are the type who believe a cop can do no right and are inherently guilty just because they are cops.
