Post your stupid gun lock collection!!

I've lost a few, cut another cause I lost the key, but these were in my trunk and range bag.

Buy a receipt book and sell them to your friends for their next purchase.

I tried a handwritten reciept at Turners and another gun store, but alas, no.

Some gun stores have a 'turn in a lock' and 'buy another for $1'. Oak Tree Gun Club used to do that...

Others will accept the original lock, but others are just jackasses and what are you gonna do? Let the DROS time out?

Just that I seem to buy guns at 30+ days or so, and have to buy a new freaking lock all the time...

I figured some guys here must have 40-50 of them by now...

One time they insisted that I need to purchase the exact same lock that came with the gun. I said fine. They ran out and said OK we let it go this time. What a joke!

My handgun came with a lock. cant you just take one for that handgun if it doesnt come with one

It's about BUYING a used gun. Take 5 gun shops. All 5 have different views of the state and federal laws wrt to a gun lock. 2-3 years ago, you could give a safe number and not have to buy a lock.

I'm sure that gun shops are making more on locks than on the DROS fees, but damn, wish it wasn't so haphazard and random..

I sold a collection of gun locks at a neighbor's yard sale last year. Someone bought all seven (or eight?) for a buck a piece.

There was a store in Irvine that I performed a transfer through (picked up a used gun at the Costa Mesa show) and the proprietor gave me a lock when I came to pick up. I took the gun to my car and promptly returned the lock.

The biggest jack*****es were SoCal Guns in San Diego. Bought a used revolver from them and they charged me something like $19 for a standard cheap lock. Never been back to that place.

I worked for a well known gun store (chain) a few years ago and the cheap lock that they sold for $5.79 had a cost of something like $5.39. It was something like a 6.4% mark up. They had to have something cheap to sell for PPT's so they sold it for very little above cost. So not all gun stores are trying to rip you off with the locks.
Now the ones that make you buy the $20 lock, that's complete BS.

Good point - Turners sells locks for $6, so I wasn't too upset with that, but as you mentioned, the gun stores that sell $10 and $15 locks get - well - kinda tiring.. It's not the $, just the idiocy of it...

And it's not like these are GOOD locks (except for my Ruger lock). I can cut any of the others easily.

The Ruger lock came on my P90, and damn, it's really BUILT.

Remember those environmental commercials showing those plastic tabs that they use to keep six-packs together? They show a string of them reaching across the ocean and whatnot, lamenting the waste of plastic and its effect on the Earth.

We should make a commercial showing millions of gun locks, all interlocked, and it stretching over the world.

I bet if I melted down all my leftover gun locks, I could make a whole new gun. I mean, like a Browning M2, not just a handgun....
