I live 7 miles from a town of 6,000 people and you can't see my house from the nearest county road. I have a well that I use for the garden so I don't have to go anywhere else.

I live in the backcountry. I'd go out and close the gate and maybe chainsaw a few strategic trees down. Then go make dinner and maybe have a beer on the patio.

There’s a whole lot of folks in my area ~ if 1/4 of them go to the woods ~ there’s going to be a lot of killings in about a weeks time. I have a 7-11 and a few stores to take over if real stuff happens - it’s not going to be easy but that’s about as good as it’s going to get over yonder !

I could always join a gang - kill the leader and then take over these fools and re-organize them.

So let’s just hope no shtf just yet.

As far as carrying a long gun out in the open, I can see an ambush / sniper head shot / or some band of LE taking that away from that person. Yes a long gun is gtg but unless there is all out war - maybe not so much. Pistols will be primary carry - that’s what was going on in the LA RIOTS / Northridge eq. Yes the Koreans had the roof but they did not wander out into the chaos, which I don’t plan to either.

If it's gotten so bad that one needs to bug out to the backcountry, the backcountry is going to be VERY crowded. And most of the edible animals will be gone in a month...maybe less.

Ya, backcountry bug out is a fantasy!

15 min bug out because your area is on fire is more likely scenario and for that you won't need or even want a rifle.

Another question would be in a small / temporary shtf ~ are the survivors of an incident going to listen to law enforcement ?

What happens if LE ask you to give up your weapon ( house search or check point while driving and they see ammo / holster ), what if they don’t let you leave - in fact some people stated that carloads of people were told they couldn’t leave the burn area and burned to death.

Are you going to listen to an order ( let’s say that newsc*m / bass ) stated behind their shelter - or are you going to use your own common sense?

Is there going to be law and order or is it every person ( that can use common sense) for themselves ?

How long is a disaster going to last in America ? A few days / weeks / months? For those that die and / or become victims - a lifetime?

30 day prescriptions are refillable after 20 days. That saves you 10 days each refill. After a year you have 2 months. You grow a safety stock quickly.
