That is how the right works. They are against government unless it is something they do not like or is against their belief. My favorite is that they think that everyone that smokes marijuana uses it all the time, has not life, and has no job. And will be using it when they touch a gun.

Funny how cocaine is a class 2 which is not as bad as a class 1. So federally, its not as bad to snort some coke and own guns as it is to smoke weed and own guns.....they actually consider Marijuana to have no healing or medical qualities(class 1). And cocaine to have some medical and healing qualities.....realizing that the 20th century is the only time in human existance, and really its mostly America, that marijuana has not been reconized for its healing abilities let alone everything else it can be used for like, rope, clothes, any petroleum product, paper, ect. But Thats the system and thats how it is. No one said its gona make sense

I covered this Drugs cum Guns issues from diff angle before.

My angle was the Guns cum Drugs laws could be used to Grab Guns because cops, courts and even public is pre-greased to LE planting drugs on people and making that stick.

Your average little old lady on a jury will be thinking "Well, even if the officer did plant that baggie on that hippie, it must have been because he knew the hippie is a drug addict, so it was for his own good".

Court precedent isn't all streamlined for cops planting child-porn, counterfeit money or even weapons....but they sure are for planting drugs. It isn't what you are 'holding', it is what they said you were holding.

The Powers That Be would just make a few Obamunist New World Order agents into Fed Marshals and away we go.

It isn't even a drug test, which could be 'planted' as well but would take a little work, it is just a cop 'finding' a joint after he orders you out of car or house after 'smelling the odor' of MJ.

This issue appears to be taboo for NRA, because they are officially against drugs and support LE, and are what you might call checkers players and not chess players.

this whole topic is such a gigantic legal nightmare for all involved.

One thing that still hasn't been mentioned is patient confidentiality. It's really a huge mess for the poor people involved in this debacle of state vs fed debate.

regardless of if you do or do not use - the ambiguity of the situation is a travesty.

edit: hah i guess i should stop working once and a while google.

Looks like there is at least some precedence set on this topic.

and for the record, alcohol and guns dont mix. shoot first, drink later.
Sorry, but the definition of a psychoactive substance is anything that crosses the blood brain barrier and has a effect on the central nervous system. While aspirin is not, alcohol definitely is. Alcohol crosses the barrier readily and is a central nervous system depressant. The buzz from alcohol is a "high", same as pot, same as heroin, they just effect the nervous system in different ways. Nicotine and caffeine are also psychoactive substances.

                  Great article, well written.

It is not a surprise to me, but what the surprise is, didn't Obama say that he wouldn't go after the states that allow MMJ as long as it doesn't violate state and federal laws?

                  So much for change.
What you said does not make sense. States that permit MMJ do so in violation of Federal Law.

federal law is not supposed to trump state law, especially in regards to things the federal government has no power to regulate in the first place.

but the SCOTUS ****ed that all up, as usual.

Where did you get that nonsense. See The Constitution of the United States, Article VI, Clause 2 :
Clause 2. This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby; any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

But your opinion on that question doesn't mean anything in real life, especially when the Supreme Court disagrees.

Sure, just like the Brady Campaign thinks SCOUTS messed things up with Heller and McDonald.

Well, there are a whole bunch of people, more and more every day, who don't give a flying fig about what some power drunk aholes 2500 miles away say they can or cannot do.

People seem to forget that when you speak of the "Federal Government" you are just talking about men and women, just like the rest of us, who seem to think they have the right to run our lives. Plenty of us disagree.

You can get one if you have an eyelash that curls the wrong way. I did a job accross the street from one of those "pharmacies" for a week or so. It was all hipsters and freaks rolling in and out of that place, all day long.
+1 , my wife worked with a woman who had a MMJ card, she didn't hide the fact that she said it was for her back from an accident but she didn't have any issues getting around. She bragged about how easy it is to get a card and that she was making 1000's a year growing and selling MJ. She only had the card to make $$ tax free and feed her habit. I am willing to bet that over 90% of MMJ users don't really have a legitimate need for it.

And then again, some people live in the real world.

And some people, like the Alan Gura and his ilk, do more than just disagree. They live in the real world, understand how it works and change things.
