Plugs or muffs?

Both. Turn he electrics up all the way so I can still hear conversation through the plugs then I have double protection when shooting.

Since I only shoot outdoors, mostly in some form of competition, I wear electronic muffs during the cooler seasons and switch to my custom molded plugs during the hot seasons.
Muffs for training with the AR.

I just use cheap plugs, if you know how to insert them correctly they work very well. I dont usually wear muffs because they get in the way when shooting long guns.

Muffs when shooting handguns indoors. both if shooting anywhere near someone with a cannon, indoors or out!
Your third option shouldn't be "I'm a rebel". It should read "I'm stupid"! I am of course refering to those situations where you know there is going to be shooting or other high noise level activities going on and refuse to wear hearing protection.

Usually muffs, but will double up with plugs when I feel like having something jammed into my ears.

Had a bad episode with this a couple of weeks ago, I took my 78 year old father shooting his new AR. He has been completely deaf in his left ear since WWII , but his right ear was amazingly good for what its been through...actually almost perfectly normal.

Well, about a half hour into shooting...I notice he cant hear me even with his muffs off. Come to find out , when he was shouldering the weapon...the stock was lifting the muff off of his only good right ear.

I asked him didnt it hurt when firing , he said no....so for the rest of the day I got him a good fitting plug and still made him adjust his position and still use the muffs as well.

Took him to the ear doctor, and the difference between his last hearing test and the one now is huge...he now needs a hearing aid badly.

It just really sucks that by chance, the muff was lifting off of his only good right ear...how it didnt hurt him when firing I'll never know.

Yup....double up when at an indoor range. I like the Peltor Combat ear plugs. Work great and super comfy.

I always double up with plugs and muffs.

Outdoors - either or, but usually just foam plugs.
Indoors - plugs and muffs.

I have some Electronic muffs that I use primarily. They do get annoying when trying to get a cheek weld on a rifle but it's doable.

Switched to plugs for a Shotgun course though because any hindered shouldering and cheek weld = much pain.
