does anyone actually like going to the range

I mean does anyone actually find it fun? I don't find ranges to be fun at all. I like to use my 30 rounders with my featureless AK with out being hasseled, I like to shoot more than one bullet per 5 seconds, call Me crazy. I also don't like to shoot where 10 people that have never shot a gun arr standing next to u, or some old ro is breathing down ur neck, call me crazy but y would u pay money for that?

I like to shoot no matter what.

But that said, I really dislike the fact that we can't do the following at most ranges:

    1) Fire as fast as I want
    2) Draw from a holster
    3) Not get hassled about what ammo, stuff I bring

I do understand why some of these things aren't allowed. The main reason is that some people aren't capable of doing these safely.

Let's face it, most people don't have the most basic safety requirements. #1, keep your finger off the fuggin trigger till you are ready to shoot. I see this everywhere in every shooting venue.

Ever since Inland Fish & Game was shut down, I haven't found a single local place with reasonable rates. That being said, I've never particularly minded going to the range. Sure, it's full of people who are unsafe and having to follow someone else's rules sucks. That all being said, there's nothing like shooting in the boonies without RSOs screaming at you.

I don't go to ranges unless I have to somehow. Like renting a gun I'm interested in or something.

I "love" to shoot, not my rules, have no choice but to follow them!

I love going to the range. Then again, being an RO at my club gets me keys to the action pistol range and access when it's closed to the public.

Just wish it wasn't 30 miles away, but them's the breaks.

Not a fan, the closest range to me won't let me bring in my rifle bag I have to shove all of my shooting gear in my pockets and try to show them the gun isn't loaded at the same time. And on top of that, they charge about $20 a person, even if you are not shooting.. thank God for property

I go to the range as much as I can. I enjoy it. However the range is at our sportsmans club and not run like the Nazi range I went to in the bay area once. We police ourselves and have 7 benches. It is usually a good group of guys that is there. Still no fast draw and blasting a mag as fast as you can. You gain nothing by that and usually just ruin target holders with poor shots. That is not target practice or load development which is why most go there. We have a good time at the range.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

The range is there for when you have "range work" to do. A solid shooting bench, a known distance and similar conditions. Most of us target shooters grew up on gun ranges and have no problem with it.
If you just like to blast away, do mag dumps or just plink away, you will not find the target range that enjoyable.

In many ways I prefer public ranges to just going out and shooting. Hell, I can shoot from my hot tub but, I'll still go to Angeles to knock that little 600 yard pig of it's stand.

BTW, I've never been hassled for any of my legal magazines or belted ammo. Also, I've nevere heard of a range limiting you to one round per five seconds. But, hell, it's their business and they can run it how they want to.
