Just one of the many reasons that I belong to a private range that doesn't rent guns. It doesn't eliminate the idiots, but it really cuts down on the number of them.

Dumb dumbs at the range

LOL!! Just SAY IT!!! jk jk...Gotta love Calguns
I must say, in SFV area, there is NO WHERE to go where one can avoid the "dumb dumbs." If I shoot indoors, I prefer to be in the first or last lane, can't stand the picture takers and gun waivers. I try to frequent the Angeles shooting range as much as possible, where I have personally never seen any crazy folk. But maybe I'm not looking hard enough..Last edited by JNunez23; 04-16-2012, 3:02 PM.sigpic"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

I regularly shoot at OC Indoor in Brea. I rarely see anything stupid. If I do, the range employees are usually on it before I can even decide what to do.
The range only has about 10 or 12 lanes and they are broken into 2 sides. The windows behind the shooting lanes give a great view to anyone in the lobby area, including the employees.
I have seen the losers you describe in a lot of other places. Yes, I leave before things go too bad.

My favorite was the last time I ever shot at Ironsights in Oceanside. As I walked in I could see into the pistol range side, some idiot was spinning the cylinder on his revolver and trying to cowboy it closed while his finger was inside the trigger guard. I walked up to the counter, told an employee that they need to kick that frickin' idiot with the revolver out, explained what he was doing, I got a DGAF look from the employee, so I grabbed my gear and left. The outdoor range I frequent now has some pretty good Range Officers, a little on the Nazi side with rate of fire (I usually pause for a second between but they prefer me wait a little longer than that) but other than that they keep their eyes open for the range-tards and do a good job of keeping things safe on the firing line.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L Mencken

I wish there were more range Nazis, to curtail all the poor gun handling I see on a busy weekend.
As for those who say they don't judge based on appearances or clothes, I am calling BS. Appearances may be deceiving, but we all make a ton of judgement calls based on them.Comment

I agree with the above, go get the RO, and work from there.Originally posted by KestryllThis guy is a complete and total idiot.

They need a little help from the rangemaster to improve their firearm handling skills. Someone needs to let the rangemaster know - that would be you. If they don't get it, you might want to consider going somewhere else.
P.S. - This is why I don't go to my favorite outdoor range on the weekends. There are less shooters and, therefore, less idiots on the weekdays and it's easier for the rangemaster to keep track of them. I know it's not an option for everyone, though.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

+1 also would inform the R.O, when people don't start understanding rules and start waving firearms/ horseplay/ this can cause serious problems. I've told another shooter to stop pointing his rifle at me. After the third time, he went out and complained about me to the range employee who was working. When the RO told the moron that I worked there, he packed up and left. I never saw him again.
When I was at a private club where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were getting in some live fire of NFA weapons and Angelina swept the spectators with a FA AK that she had just picked up from the bench, I was told not to say anything because they were paying a lot to rent out the bay. So, I packed up and left. My life is worth more than watching a couple morons with NFA stuff and a complete lack of knowledge of safety.
So, yea, I've been an azz to idiots on the line more than once. But, many times, I just pack up and leave or get the ROs involved.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
