Yea, I really think the biggest issue she would have would be if/when the time came that she had to actually use it. Granted, it may save her life.. but it wouldn't save her from sitting in a jail cell and paying fines out the ***. It's pretty amazing what someone can get away with just being related to a cop (And not even a high ranking one). My brother in law was DUI and ran a stop sign, cops tried to pull him over and he took off. Ended up on a "high speed chase" which was only "high speed" until he smashed into a power transformer that knocked out the power to 75% of the town (Yes, its small). Needless to say, he spent the night at the hospital for minor cuts and bruises and nothing else ever came of it.. because his daddy was a retired cop. Not even active anymore.

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." - Albert Einstein -
The physicians and hospital administrators I know can't carry their firearms into the hospital, even with their LTC's without risking their jobs. They keep them in their cars in Gun Vaults locked down to the trunks of their cars. If she's changing or someone happens to see the firearm in her purse and reports her to administration. She'll be in quite a bit of trouble...Comment

Like I said before from first hand experience, unless she was drunk driving a school bus through a retirement home on Easter Sunday butt nekked with a crack pipe in one hand and this officers pistol in the other, she will never be pulled over and searched in the same town .The simple truth is: Cops don't pull over and harass their cop buddy's Girlfriend/wives .
You might not like it, you might want to post how wrong it is and cite this or that penal code, and say I'm crazy, but that's the way it is.In a smaller town that is.
That being said, I doubt it would be hard for her to get a permit. And follow the rules everyone else has to.Last edited by SocomM4; 04-07-2012, 11:43 AM.Originally posted by TeddyBallgamemaybe I'm wrong, but, if a $50.00 investment can help me a bit, i'll just have to go a day without the hookers and blow to cover it

Long Beach isnt exactly a small town... They have about 1000 officers in their deparment. Maybe she can carry a card or get a bumper sticker that says 'cops girlfriend'.Comment

If she's stupid enough to risk her future based on what he "told" her to do -
Then she can't complain when her illegal activities lead her into the crapper....

Total BS. " My co worker just told me that she bought a gun and was being forced to carry it by her boyfriend. I asked her for details since she is a good friend of mine and I didn't want her to get into any legal troubles. Apparently her boyfriend is LEO and the gun in question is his."NRA Life Member.

Some are more equal than others. My co worker just told me that she bought a gun and was being forced to carry it by her boyfriend. I asked her for details since she is a good friend of mine and I didn't want her to get into any legal troubles. Apparently her boyfriend is LEO and the gun in question is his. I advised my friend not to do it since she does not have a CCW permit. I just wanted to make sure I gave her correct advice. Any peace officers that can chime in would be greatly appreciated. Please no LEO bashing, thank you in advance.
That said, she should do it, it's not a fair law anyway.Comment

I have met several people who have carried W/O a permit for around 20 years. Are they breaking the law? Yes. Do they care? No. Their response to me is they will take their chances if they end up in court. They just don't care to take their chances on the street. One of those who admits to carrying W/O a permit works at a gun shop and has done so for over 25 years. I thought I heard him wrong when he mentioned this to a female customer. I had a LTC in S.C. and carried all the time. I don't have a permit here and I don't carry a gun. I hope the process will change after a new Sheriff is in office.sigpicComment

Apparently she has now recanted her story after I informed her that she was breaking the law and "my BF is cop" is not an excuse. So.. Now she only carries it while her BF is present. Yeah, right! I call BS on that one. She is a good friend but ultimately it's her life, her choices."Americans used to roar like lions for liberty;now we bleat like sheep for security."
