    Transporting Guns Without A Car

How would you be able to transport a gun if you don't have a car? I either get around on bus, bike, or walk.

Unloaded and in a locked container.

What about a bike? How would that work out. Especially if I travel to the gun store via bike. Gotta get it home somehow without making a scene. But without a car there's a lot less you can do as far as the containers and what not. Plus it'd be impossible to install one on my bike or any bike for that matter.

A handgun would be easy enough to put in a locked container inside a backpack. A long gun might a bit more tough. The new Ruger 10/22 takedown seems like it would be ideal for backpack transportation.

Do you have an objection to cars?

Get an outrigger style rack for the bike. Or just walk, or take the bus.

I would have loved sitting on the bus with my Mossberg in its box.

Well, doesn't AB 144 only apply to handguns and not long guns?

I did all along 395 since the age of 12. So call me silly, but if he's old enough to vote and die for the country, then he's old enough to act like a man. So... yes.

True, but the Federal GFSZ law applies to long guns as well. Unless you live out in the sticks where there are no schools and in an area where discharge is not permitted prohibited (thereby allowing LOC/UOC including handguns), unloaded and in a locked container is really the only legal way to go.

handgun = locked (unloaded) container inside a backpack.

long gun = in a soft (over shoulder style) or hard guitar case (unloaded and locked)

Neither will draw attention and if you're on a bike, either would seem normal, especially in CA.

                        I do believe it's time for a plexi/lexan locked container. It's a container, it's locked, it's secure, it's clear.

For a long gun being carried on a bicycle, I suggest a backpack guitar case. It doesn't stand out and scream "HE'S GOT A GUN!", and it can be locked with a small padlock through the zipper pulls.

don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

                            backpack
                            guitar case
                            tennis racket case
                            baseball bat bag

                              How much do containers cost?
