In 1972 I bought a Hi Standard Double Nine .22 revolver for $30. It had been fired one time .. through a ceiling. Still have it.

Off topic question but ho much more felt recoil is there on the carbine length Mosins over full length? That deal seemed to have worked out pretty well for you i would have to say.A while back I found an M38 Mosin Nagant here on Calguns that had been slightly bubba'd.
Kid listed it as in great condition, sporter stock, ati bent bolt, but it included the original m38 stock, and original bolt. Missing rear sight but 240 rounds thrown in.
I think he wanted $220 or obo.
We pm and I agree to meet him that night for 200 cash.
We meet and this is what I see:
The original m38 stock is actually a M44 stock, oh well didn't think I could be that lucky.
I look at the rifle and notice that it has been tapped for a scope mount.
So at that point of course I want him to come down a bit because of the holes that where not disclosed.
He wont budge at all.. we haggle for like 20 minutes he wont come down a penny. Finally I start to walk and he goes down to 190.
Get home put it back in its rightful stock and put the original bolt back in.
I then sold the sporter stock for like 50 bucks
And the bolt for 75 I think
So I made back 125 bucks not bad..
I had to get a rear sight which took a while to track down but only cost me about 25 bucks
Then I found 2 small set screws that I loctited in (most people would never notice)
$190 Initial Cost
-$125 Parts Sold
+$25 Rear Sight
_____________
$90 Final Cost
~90 bucks value in rounds
Virtually Free!

An M44 carbine rifle or a Winchester 69A .22 rifle. I paid $79 each for them.Last edited by BKinzey; 03-23-2012, 11:38 PM.Rogue American, Media Mercenary.

Not much more. The ammo I got was Czech Heavy Ball for their belt fed machine gun if I remember right. Now that stuff hits HARD (both in the 91/30 and the 38), noticeably more then the Russian stuff that is available right now. Causes sticky bolt tho..
But hey you want the heavy hit with a Mosin. That's why you're shooting it!
No recoil pads here!
Nothing like a cheap big caliber!
Yea I think the deal worked out well for me

A Raven Arms mp-25 for $25.
Worst $25 dollars I ever spent. If I could go back in time I would have just lit the money on fire and watched it blow away in the wind, it probably would have been more entertaining that owning that POS...______________________________________

$99 for a new Marlin 795.A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.
