Information is kind of its own point, I think. And I edited the original full list down to what seemed to me to be low-risk for copyright, so just those two remaining entries don't look like much.

Minor nit: NICS data probably does indicate new guns coming into the civilian stock, but doesn't track the distribution very well. Most states, I believe, permit FTF, no-FFL sales; no NICS on those. I would think the possibility of multiple guns per NICS check would be a lesser criticism.

And a major nit in using KY for comparisons such as this. KY runs NICS checks on each KY CCW holder every month. So a large portion of their numbers involve no actual firearms transactions/transfers at all.

C&R licensees are FFLs. But they don't use NICS when buying or selling C&R guns -- except handguns in California! (I have no idea whether any other states require their C&R holders to buy C&R handguns through 'regular' FFLs, thus running through DROS and background checks.)

TN 12th? I thought my state would be at-least in the top 10 but we did beat out TX. The sports section at my local wal-mart is always full with people eyeing the ammo.

People in TX mainly like to buy used it seems. No offline, no paper work. Also chl makes it so no background check is needed for dealer purchases , so might throw off the numbers a little.

Does a CHL bypass fed check? Does here. CHL's are ridiculously common. My GF works at a bank, and says about 1/2 the ID's presented in transactions are CHLs.

And perhaps more sad than our state is the nations capitol, in dead last place. If the purpose of the second ammendment was for the citizenry to stand up in protection of the nation, then this fact is a catastrophic failure...

Yeah still have to have background check if you have a carry permit. They are pretty common here too all the close friends of mine that live in TN have carry permits.
