I bought an upper from them a while back. Haven't had any issues with it. The uppers I've built since then perform a lot better. But considering I paid more for a barrel and bolt then I did for the entire AR15 depot upper, I would expect that.

Our uppers are nearly identical. Only difference is I have a ArmaLite HBAR 14.5 with a A2 bird cage MB. I love the YHM Specter length rail system hiding the gas block.

Yes! I also love the YHM rail system, I didn't notice mine was YHM a few weeks ago hahaha. It's put on perfect. When I first took it to the range, I literally screwed on Magpul sights and I was punching holes real close to center.

              Barrel

Just bough a 20" Spiral Fluted Bull Barrel from ARD. Purchase it on Thursday and arrived on Friday! So far the customer service is superb. Moreover, I am very very pleased with the barrel. Installing it on my SunDevel upper tonight. Will keep you informed on how it performs.

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers by reviving an old thread, but I feel the need to input my most recent experience regarding AR15-Depot.
Let me start off by saying that I was very much in a need for a mid-length 5.56 barrel in 16".. there are absolutely none to be found in-stock, and those that are found have indefinite back-order status'. Until I found a barrel on AR15-Depot's website.. yes the site is very cheesy and filled with nothing but.. well go on its site and you'll see what I mean.
At any rate, I called AR15-Depot at noon on Monday and surprisingly enough, someone had answered the phone. She (yes a she) was very polite and although she did not know some of the answers to my questions, she however was pretty willing to answer them irregardless. Furthermore, I had inquired about this specific product:

                ARD M4 STYLE 16" BARREL SOCOM MID-LENGTH (#AB187)
M4 style 16" barrel. These barrels are chambered in 5.56 and have a 1 in 8 twist, they are made from 4140 chromoly steel and have a

                SOLID BLACK FINISH.

                COMES WITH M4 FEED RAMPS

Here is the breakdown of the conversation (interrogation):
-First, I had asked if this product was in stock; she replies "yes".
-Second, I asked who manufactures the barrel and where; she replies "us, here [in LA]".
-Third, I asked what type of coating/finish the barrel has; she replies "a solid black finish".
-Finally, I asked what is the typical order fulfillment time; she replies "we usually process and ship orders within the same day if ordered before our 2:00PM closing time"

I was left somewhat satisfied but also mystified because I still didn't know very much about the product that I was inquiring! But in knowing that the barrel was in-fact in-stock, I simply had to give this company a try. On the next day, Tuesday (2/26/2013), I ordered the barrel at 2:56PM and to my surprise I received two emails almost back to back; one with my receipt of purchase and the other from FedEx stating that my package was picked up. Sure enough the tracking information updated later that night with the estimated delivery date of 3/1/13 (Friday). HOWEVER, to my utter astonishment, my doorbell was wrung today and awaited a signature required package. I knew what this was.. I received AR15-Depot's package via FedEx at 11:58AM. Wow. Alright, so with having read most of the negative/neutral things regarding AR15-Depot, I am pretty shocked. This was one of the easiest transactions that I have done during this panic buying craze, and that is saying a lot especially for a company that seems to have a bad rep

Let me go into some details regarding the product itself. The barrel looks nice; it is very clean, and it seems to be well made. Now I will be honest here.. I still don't know what coating/finish this barrel has! The barrel has obvious machining marks but the surface is a slick smooth finish that almost looks and feels like nitride/melonite. But I wouldn't be surprised if the barrel was machined, lightly polished, and then hot-caustic blued. Nevertheless, the coating/finish is a lot better than the standard phosphate/manganese that most barrels have. While this barrel certainly looks the part, who knows how it will perform down range. I think it's time to give this product a test drive and SOON.
Well that was my experience with AR15-Depot, so take it for what it is. I am quite content with my purchase and I hope that I shed some light on this murky matter
I hope to be back soon with my range report. Until then,

                -Jarred

                  Jarred,
The barrels are 4140 chrome moly, and the finish is a melanite-like treatment, but they are not allowed to call it that because it's a patented process. The finish is very wear resistant, and way the hell better IMO than the phosphate finish. They are manufactured in FL, and finished in CA. Should be a straight shooter, they very rarely had any issues. Let us all know how it performs. I used to work there, and though I don't have an upper of theirs, I wouldn't have batted an eye about owning one. Just don't expect much customer service, and never order something that is backordered.
