Buy a RRA for $100 take it apart than put it back together...
Or go to the market place look at the FN ones for sale, take that one apart and put it back together...

You can be thrifty without being cheap or getting cheap parts, you just have to be smart. Which some people aren't...

For the record I went with a BHW stainless barrel I got for $150 new because it was scratched

systems said you can assemble a bcg for $65 to $70. I'm definitely thrifty, did you see my yard sale AR parts thread? $50 Dpms barrel assembly. Now, let's get a $70 bcg.

So far I havent had any problems with the ARD stuff. I've had a couple of DPMS ARs and the ARD uppers seem to be pretty much the same quality. Now that is just my opinion and you know how that goes.
Now I really like the quad rails ARD has on the uppers.

I use to buy from saa out of Washington,
From oct 11 to May 12 they sold complete m16'bcgs rra and various parts for 105 or in parts for about $72
Stripped AP uppers for $50 in bulk....

BUT they are way overcharging now...

Barrels, if you google search the heck out of parts you will find deals and sales here and there....

I like using ar15hardware, if you ask for specific parts and barrels he will get them cheap ...

It use to be allot easier and cheaper but around may of this year distributors and manufactures started having shortages and would only sale with HUGE MOI. It sucked so I stopped.

This thread is one of the reasons I finally decided to become a user in the Calguns forum. A couple weeks ago, I purchased a complete upper from a relatively reputable local store up here in Norcal. The guy (owner) talked me into this upper saying it was legit. In addition to big name uppers they sell, the store also builds their own uppers, many with their name stamped on the muzzle brake. This is my first AR build, and I've purchased multiple items from the store in the past, so I took his word and bought it. When I got home, the first thing I noticed was that the BCG was missing a charging handle. That got me to do a little more research on what I just bought…

The only component I can find with any kind of writing other than the store branded muzzle brake was the barrel, ARD 5.56 1/9. Upon my research, I have found very very few reviews or information on this that wasn’t originated from the owners of ar15depot. This thread had more posts related to the origin of my ARD barrel than all the other threads I’ve found from other websites and forums.

I brought my upper back into the store the next day, they provided me with a charging handle no problem without question. Then I started asking 2 guys about my upper (owner gone that day), and they seemed not to know much at all about their store branded upper, which is weird, since I’m sure someone had to be involved in putting it together, they didn’t know where all those components came from. That was a disappointment. So my feelings at this point is, that I might be ok, although my upper is questionable, with a barrel that has gotten neutral and good reviews from actual users.

Instead of trying to return it, I will TOFTT and build it up step by step, with pictures and everything. I will post my progress, and of course review how it was to shoot. I plan to put several hundred factory rounds through it (if it can handle it of course) before I give my final ratings. I have a S&W M&P Sport, so I have something solid already to compare it with.

I’ll post a link to my thread here once I get started in the coming weeks. Any suggestions?

Thanks, and sorry for bringing this thread back from the grave.
