As for the DOJ following people back from Reno, I don't know if it's true, but I'm not going to call Xeno a liar, especially when I read in CRPA's publication that it is happening. Also, Mr. Michel is a knowledgable and prominent firearms law attorney, so I wouldn't immediately dismiss what he wrote. Maybe it didn't happen to you, but it seems to have happened to others.
+1 on that dwtt. Mrex...I too had/have my reservations, and I know from where you're coming. But look at this way- Xeno is a gun seller by trade. It IS his business to know these things. Now while I have run across my fair share of fear mongering FFL'rs-- I've yet to see that specfic trait come from Xeno. "Proof" was asked for and third-source provided it. Now while the "proof" itself is somewhat lacking...all signs SEEM to point to this being true.....

But regardless of this; both Xeno and I and now a few others have been in agreement all along-- Dont do what you're claiming you've done! PLEASE certainly dont go doing it again! Unless you've a permit to do so~ what you've claimed to do is rather.......impulsive...for the internet. Please dont advocate others do this!!!
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....

dude, I hope you know you're just encouraging people to pull what you did. It's true that there's no way Iggy & Crew can catch every single "mag runner", but there's definately an increased probability that they can hit paydirt during the bigger shows now, especially with all the posts and threads ad nauseum concerning mags.

I don't think xenophobe's fear mongering at all. He works in a gun store for crying out loud, you think he wants to see potential customers get popped?

p.s. concerning Mr. Michel: client/attorney privilege

I'm just reporting what I've heard from various sources, now confirmed by California Rifle and Pistol Association, and also independently by noted firearms attorney Don Kilmer.

I'm concerned with the RKBA of everyone here... and I don't want to see them taken away by a careless mistake. I'm not involved with some conspiracy to spread fear. And if even if I was, I thought conspiracy theorists needed to prove that there is a conspiracy, not the other way around...

Big Whoop, I once carried back from the Reno show a ICBM missile I bought from this little old gentleman for $40 bucs. Mounted the ICBM on top of the M1 Abrahams tank I pick up a the Reno pawn shop and drove back to LA. No one stopped me. I'm in agreement with you MREX....

              Let's get something straight.
Is it against the law to buy "Hi-Cap" mags in Nevada by a Californian? NO
You can buy all the mags you want. Buying them IS NOT ILLEGAL.
Can you bring them back home to California? NO It is against the law to import "hi-cap" mags into California.
Once you pass the state line you are breaking the law, and we here on the Calguns board are law abiding citizens.
When someone breaks the law, we discourage this type of behaivor. It's not alright to break the law.
Does DOJ Visit the Nevada Gunshows? I don't care, because I don't break the law, especially regarding gun laws.
You sir admitted to breaking the law, twice.
Xenophobe is relaying information the he heard and read, just because he can't give you a case number, doesn't mean he is fear mongering, but you on the other hand are advocating breaking the law.
Now who are you going to believe, an honest citizen or someone who breaks the law.
I know you are trying to make a point, but you are not scoring any points by admitting that you broke the law.

Well, if they were dissassmebled...... I dunno, a gung ho DA might just wanna use ya' as the test case. "importing" mags vs. replacement parts notwithstanding- Mrex~ again, I know what you're trying to say & do...but go easy man!!!! Some Dweebs only half read these things (posts) and might just take off with the proverbial half-loaded brain.

I say the points been made. "Some" Proof was offered...that proof is somewhat questionable. Point made. You've made your point that we are not (yet???) at a total 100000% total police state in which the ask "Papperrs Pleask" as you cross the boarder. Let it be a singular even in which theee speak so fondly of!!!!! SOME might get the wrong impression (as some seem to have) that you're advocating doing the same as you. I hope this was/is not the case.........

when i was driving arround looking for parking he was sorta checking out my car.. then when i parked i lit a cigg and had a smoke before i went in. He came up to me and my girl and started asking if i was there for the show. He told me he was from Oakland and he could not wait to see if someone would sell him some "Cool Stuff". I told him i was pretty excited just to look at some things from out of state and i didn't plan on buying anything. Then he says "ohh thats too bad i have this rifle my friend at a booth is trying to sell cheap" I put out my cigg and cut the convo short and went inside. Then i keep seeing this dude right behind me the whole show. Then i saw him talking to some vendors like they were old best friends.. etc.. he asked me again inside the show if i picked up anything neat yet.
That dude stunk like a cop (no offence to LEO's on this board). He actually had the smell of some rent a cop. When you grow up on the streets and run into them a lot you can get the feel if someone is trying to BS you. Its the same way when a LEO is on the job for a few years, they can tell your full of crap or telling the truth.
Maybe he was just a weirdo, maybe not.. . things just didn't add up and i assumed he was an agent.

ohhhh and i forgot to mention he had a set of cuffs with him. in a belt pouch. that pretty much sold me on the idea i didn't want to talk to this guy anymore

I'm sure Xeno knows what he's talking about. He never struck me as dumb. And, I'd be willing to bet that the CRPA is right on in their cautions. I've just never seen, much less heard, of the DoJ crossing state lines to hassle folks. If it did happen, all I'd like to see is the reference to the specific incicent to read it for myself.
To dust off an old thread, since people are talking about the Reno gun show...

No one said there are hordes of agents, only that a few have visited some shows. Chuck Michel is the NRA's lawyer point-man for California. He's the one arguing the NRA's side on the SF gun ban. I'm sure we'd all like to read about the specific incidents, and even though they aren't handy, if you don't believe him, you're a fool, but I think you've already demonstrated that by what you said you did elsewhere in this thread. Maybe the admin will do you a favor and delete your posts.
