^ like I said, you all want security until you can't get your Starbucks on time....

Some drunk driver just ran through a chain link fence gate and onto an active runway. There were no guards, there were no jersey barriors..he just turned onto a service road from a regular road ran through the gate and BAM...hes on an ACTIVE RUNWAY...what does the Airport spokesperson say about it... they are in full compliance with FAA standards

you people can not see the forest though the trees...

The terrorist have won because you can't get your Starbucks as fast as you want it.... it has ZERO to do with a Constitutional Right...oh I am wrong, You guys think Starbucks and boarding mass transit is a Constitutional Right guaranteed under the law and this isn't how the Founding Fathers wanted the country....unreal... just keep that gate unlocked...wouldnt want to infringe on anyones "rights"....

If TSA policys were not strict we would definately have had more attacks by now on America. Wait, whats that....12 years without a successfull attack. MMM, must be working pretty good. I have nothing to hide, screen away. I don't feel like my rights are being stripped, because flying is not a right, just as long as everyone gets equal treatment. Terrorists come in all colors.

40,000 thousand people were killed last year driving in cars, yet dieselpower (I assume from his name) will still get out on the road. 2500 were killed ten years ago by terrorists with pocketknives, and now Americans turn into a bowl of quivering jello at the thought of a weapon, and turn over their rights like a Frenchman or Brit.

        The terrorists already won.
I have no idea what to say to this. there is no logic involved in your post.

I don't drink coffee, and I'm not the one begging for security here.

This supports my point. There are plenty of holes in airport security. If someone really wants to get weapons into tge airport, they will.

You can refuse to be screened by not going to the airport.
Sure. And you can refuse to have your car searched by not driving. Driving is a privilege, not a right. So if they craft a law that your car can be randomly searched for guns, you'd be cool with that, right? Because all you have to do is take the bus or wall.

How many attacks have they thwarted in those 12 years? Here's a hint: It's less than one. Life isn't safe. Deal with it.

The TSA has taken over the air terminals and is actively working on land transportation. If they have their way, you will not be able to travel anywhere without hearing "papers please". They need to be shut down.

p.s. Members of congress are exempt from screening procedures.

That was a joke, right? Please tell me it was a joke!!! I travel a lot for work, and 70% of the time I think I would feel safer being protected by a group of children recruited from Chucky Cheese!

Most of what I see at TSA is young screeners who have never seen the inside of an airplane trying to act tough and show you they have power over you.

In adding to my above post, the main issue with TSA is that it is a federal job, thus many of the employees that it attracts have a complete entitlement mentality. Many are happy to get the job only to begin complaining about their rights and what they deserve after being in the job for a few months. Much of the security breach issues that have occured over the past few years have been attributed to TSA and to the people that are hired to protect us. Now we have to deal with the government trying to make TSA a union job and classify screeners as federal law enforcement!

Security means more than rubbing up against my leg. Much of what we get at the airport is for show and has very little substance.

The other issue with the current TSA guidlines is that there are no rules. Every airport seems to have their own rules. Most of my flying is between LAX, Orange County, Dallas (DFW) and Honolulu, so I have learned their rules, but even insode of LAX, different terminals have different rules based on the supervisors of that terminal.

I am not impressed. Hire civilian screeners that can be fired without going through governemnt labor relations boards, and pay them what the position is worth, not what some union goon says we have to pay or they will walk off the job en mass.

So what are we supposed to do, stop aircraft screening all together. I hear abolish the TSA, ok fine, then what. You can't say "get rid of the TSA", something has to replace them.

you lost me in a few places...
Hire civilian screaners....No. You cannot have a PRIVATE BUSINESS in charge of the Nations security. It must be a government agency of some sort. We as a VOTING PUBLIC need to FORCE the TSA to do the job correctly. This whole attitude that if the civilian type TSA were to provide poor service that would be meant with the buying public NOT to use them is ludicrous.

For one, the way the nation would find out they were providing poor service would be to have a terrorist attack killing several hundred people...or several THOUSAND.
The next flaw in the civilian TSA is;... the ones that provide the LEAST amount of hassel..IE "what the public wants" would be the most profitable...so the civilian TSA would be designed like Starbucks catering to the whims of the buying public...again this would end with hundreds dieing.

Federal Law enforcement is a good step. With that you also bring in a whole set of training and PHYSICAL requirments...maybe the TSA could start weeding out the loafs if it had to comply with higher standards. The reason TSA is filled with goofballs and loafs is due to a THE WHINING PUBLIC. The government wants TSA to be cheap and fast..so the WHINERS will shut up...well that means cheap uneducated goofballs and loafs.

I want the TSA to be a division of the US Marines. I want to see a 36 year old soccer mom with an entitlement mentality get an M16A2 stock slapped upside her head when she complains about searches. I want to see the whiners proned out, handcuffed and tossed off Airport property for arguing with a TSA agent. I want what Israel has. Take a trip there are and you will see what security at an airport SHOULD BE like. Every passenger is interviewed at least 3 times. Any Security Agent who fails to spot a "problem" is terminated on the spot. They test every Agent 6 times a year. The disrespect I see in US Airports would stop in days and our waiting and hassles will stop too. I see most of the problems caused by PASSENGERS. Try taking that spear gun onto an Israeli airplane...see what happens.

Inert grenade is a problem. How are you going to tell if it's real or not when the guy is making threats and waving it around? Same reason why replica pistols are a problem.

Privatizing or getting rid of TSA is no answer. Privatizing simply means a race to the bottom as everyone tries to cut costs.

I traveled a lot before 9/11. And I remember what it was like. Security was a joke compared to today. Oh, just got off the boat from Pakistan? Got a green card? (Wink. Wink.) Minimum wage OK with you? Good. When can you start?

If you traveled through LAX pre-9/11, you know what I mean. The airport security folks could barely speak English.

I hate TSA. It's nowhere near perfect. A lot of their polices are BS. They're not going to protect us against every threat. But the low-hanging fruit is no longer there.
