I suppose they do deserve some credit for making the effort at the individual level, but the agency as a whole has nothing to do with protecting anything. The TSA is largely a political tool to placate or scare the public depending on which way the political wind blows. Their policies are so asinine that the whole thing is giant smoke screen with no real security benefit.

They're not keeping us safe enough. I'm scared.
We only ride a plane every now and then. That means we're totally vulnerable the rest of the time.
I wish I had the money to do nothing but travel, then I'd always be safe.

I used to fly A LOT. In my opinion, TSA is 100% better than the private security airports used to use. I am a big fan of TSA, and I'm happy to put up with pat downs and scanning for increased security.

most of those were toys and such.... I wonder how many were just people "testing" or doing a dry run on the security system. LOL

in reference to the above:
I don't mind walking through the scanners - I do mind the invasive patdowns on kids and even myself.

I'm not one to read too much into slippery slopes, but it seems to me that eventually you will need a license to travel on airlines.

Trust me, the TSA does not increase security at all. That's about all I can say about it unfortunately.
