I'm writing this before reading the whole thread, therefore, I might be repeating what someone else has written, but...

I'll answer the same way I did on the other site I go to. If I was a bad guy intent on robbing the clerk at the store, I would check the other customers out inside before doing the deed. If I saw someone OC while they were browsing the aisles, I'd shoot them first, then do the robbery. I wouldn't want them coming to the rescue while I'm dealing with the clerk.

If I lived in a rural area, I would probably do so on my own property.

I don't have a problem with anyone who has a different opinion re OC, but I certainly wouldn't do it in an urban/surburban area for the reason above. I wouldn't even do it while hiking (not that I can) since I have a ccw and believe/hope I can get to my gun fast enough if needed.

If I was out hiking in the wilderness and some bad guy (s) came along, I'd rather they not know I have one, because being bad guys, they probably do also. Why give them the heads up.

I think you're assuming the bad-guy is reasonably intelligent. Given that some of these clowns try to hold up gun-stores which are across from the police-station, you may be overestimating their planning abilities.

Such a pessimist . You could call it a non zero chance of a different type of retirement. Plus at this exact second I have a 1 year old and no good overnight sitter's nearby to lower the better half's stress level.

        All in good time though.

Some are, some aren't. Based on my experience, I've seen both. Also, I said what I would do if I was a bad guy. I consider myself reasonably intelligent.

The answer to that question I will whisper softly into that girls ear.
