When I lived in small-town Arizona, open carry was very common. I carried whenever I chose, but didn't always feel the need. As for the BG picking out the armed one then committing his crime; I never heard of a single case where that happened. Any armed person tends to send perps looking for another location. BTW, just about every small store in AZ has a firearm under the counter, shop accordingly when you're there.

Open carry vs Concealed

I'd go concealed 98% of the time, if not more. Keep 'em guessing. I think it would take a decade or more for the sheeple that choose not to arm themselves such a period to lose their sense of paranoia...in their minds, only criminals and the police carry guns, right?
Someone stated it earlier, "this is CA, right?"Comment

Yes, I'd open-carry. But not until I had appropriate training to do so correctly and safely.
I don't necessarily think that open carry removes the element of doubt from the BGs. If they can see the carrt gun on my belt, gawd knows what I else I might be carrying that could spoil their day.A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.Comment

I prefer concealed. I goto rural Nevada often, and I open carry there quite a bit, just because it is convenient with what I'm doing. However, it does draw a lot of attention, some welcome, some not. I get asked some of the dumbest questions when I open carry. I had one guy come up to me like and start talking to me like he was "in the know" and he pointed at me and my gun on my hip and said "CCW, huh?" I believe at that moment I was in front of one of the dumbest individuals on the planet.Comment

I'd open carry to the San Francisco Symphony just 'cause.
So yes, I'd open carry a lot because I'd bet it will be the quickest way to shall issue CCW in California.

I've posted about doing just that in the past. Right this second I'd rather not spend the night in jail, but that will change in the near future.

Open carry all the way
We should be able to dress like this while walking around in public

I am sure there are "good tunes" flowing out the window. I am imagining a cop car pulling up at 1:30 AM asking "Are you having a party?" and Bundo sayin "Nope just me and the BG's"

So if I go horseback riding can I carry loaded and unconcealed? It would not be in any cities obviously so it should be alright right?Comment

VeryCoolCat, that is an awsome picture, criminals would think twice if more of us dressed like that.Comment

There is a good argument that can be made stating that we can legally do just that (so long as they are unloaded)
I'm still waiting to film the open rifle cary at the mall event

I believe open-carrying an unloaded sidearm in a public, unrestricted area is legal. I also believe I would be arrested quickly for this display in San Francisco.
Using Gene's example of the SF Symphony as an example, what charges would I be held under? Simple disturbing the peace would probably be sufficient, but SF has many gun ordinances I'm not aware of."We're surrounded. That simplifies our problem. We can now fire in any direction and strike the enemy." ....Colonel Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller, Commanding the 1st Marine Regiment at The Battle of The Chosin Reservoir, Korea 1950Comment
