Buying it and processing it in California are two entirely different things
I pick it up on the 23rd. Ammo for it is coming this Wednesday the 18th.
I'll let you know when I shoot it.Comment

Victor, I appreciate that. I cannot start a DROS until the 16th and I am doing a PPT tomorrow as the buyer. I'll look forward to your review.

yeah, it will hold 2 rds in the mag tube.I was talking to the head of a local SWAT about my Marlin SBL, and he said he was out on an enforcement action and ran into a guy who was shooting a lever action rifle.
"No biggie, I'll just hide behind this here shipping conex container..."
He said it turned out to be a .45-70 Government, and the rounds were punching through the corrugated steel, going through the container contents, and punching through the steel on the side he was standing on.
That's why I always say, "Don't take cover, you'll only get hit standing still." That round is like an out of control fully loaded concrete mixer. Not much is going to stop it until it's ready to stop. That round has ruined many perfectly good oak trees.
I have to admit that I'm totally lusting after VictorFranko's new toy. I grew up shooting Rossi pump .22 rifles, and that Ranch Hand is off the cool scale. I totally need one... or maybe two. I want mine in .45-70 Government though.
..
i love my marlin 1895, and have loaded 500gr bullets for it, (have to single load, they won't feed from the tube). gives you an appreciation for recoil. That may be a CG first!

Both the Rifleman with Connors and Wanted Dead or Alive with McQueen, came on in 1958 when I was 8yrs. old. My brothers and I watched both religiously and they and my friends all wished we could have a gun like theirs. I really liked the way Connors spun that thing too.
I have a Marlin 30-30 lever action and it is a lot of fun, tho expensive to shoot. I failed to do my research prior to buying it as I thought one could buy reloads. Wrong.
I wish I had a handgun round lever action to play with relatively cheaply.
Those are some beautiful guns guys, enjoy.Comment

You're discussing a 45-70 lever action pistol? Who makes it? What rifle is it derived from? If there's a Marlin 1895-derived pistol running around, my bank account is going to take a beating."Ecuador offers the United States $23 million a year in economic aid, an amount similar to what we were receiving under the tariff benefits, with the purpose of providing human rights training that will contribute to avoid violations of people's privacy, that degrade humanity," --Fernando AlvaradoComment

Bill, Marlin makes an 1894 in .357 magnum and you can shoot .38 specials out of it. I'm currently working out a deal to get one - they are very nice. Only thing is, just like a revolver, if you shoot .38 spec out of it, you gotta clean the chamber before you shoot .357 mag due to the crud build up.Both the Rifleman with Connors and Wanted Dead or Alive with McQueen, came on in 1958 when I was 8yrs. old. Also, Marlin makes an M39 in .22lr which is also a fun plinker - I had one but traded it to another Calgunner
I think it's found a happy home.

Considering that mossberg now has their "tactical" lever action, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if someone made a "tactical" mare's leg/ranch hand/whatever.

FWIW, Bay Area Gun Vault has the Rossi Ranch Hand lever action. It's in the case right now and available for purchase under the SSE routine.
